Other than the rocks, I probably won’t have anything else. Overcooked scallop soaked in diluted, overcooked pasta. This dish is a mistake. Their seasonal turbot which wasn’t amazing – it tasted too fishy, wasn’t properly grilled so it’s just soft mushy. I’m not very particular with fish as I’m not exactly picky but this was too fishy to be eaten. It didn’t help either when it starts to get cold. Their cooked food seems to be so lazy like cooking leftovers that’s expiring soon. I certainly did not enjoy both dishes.
First time trying this place. Enjoyed the lobster bisque, but I wish there was at least a tiny bit of lobster flesh in the bisque. Taste was good though. There was a bit of caviar in it. The roasted prawns in lemon herb sauce was good! 8 big prawns, fresh n the sauce was tangy. Soaked up with a slice of toast. Barramundi fish served with roast potatoes, french beans n salad..fresh, tasty. Attentive service staff.
Southern Rock Seafood offers you wide range of oysters which are of top quality and is simply prepared in the local flavours. Good quality food served here although price is a little bit on the higher side but you pay for quality. Ambience is quite good, too. Nice place to bring your date for a weekend or weekend’s eve dinner. The oysters is of course the star of the show! You can never go wrong with the oysters here. These are the smaller and more flavourful oysters variety, as compared to the ones you get in Thailand (where they are huge but tasteless).
Tasmanian Petuna Ocean Trout was served next accompanied with a glass of Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir 2013. The chalky tannic flavors of the Pinot Noir coupled with the heartier ocean trout was an ideal match, accentuating a great persistence and structure of this medium bodied red wine.
