I really enjoy the flavorful cockles. Sauce was delicious. Spicy prawn wantan was so fresh and juicy. Salad was refreshing and zesty. Salmon skin was crispy and tasty. This place serves amazing Chinese food.
Pretty good Peaking Roast Duck. The staff and fast but not so friendly, they like to talk among each other in chinese a lot. That would only be the downfall. The seafood fried rice and the Klang Kong belacan was also quite tasty.
I love roast duck and when I saw this restaurant literally had the words ‘Roast Duck’ in their name, I had to come here. The restaurant was quite busy too, with quite a few large groups dining and several smaller groups; I was one of just a handful of tables of just two.I ordered the half Cantonese style special roast duck, steamed cod fish with garlic, stir fried string beans with minced pork, drunken cockles, a bowl of white rice, and a mixed fruit juice. Originally I wasn’t sure if this would be enough, but it ended up being just the right amount; I wasn’t very full, but I was at a satisfactory level of fullness, and quite content (I didn’t have any of the rice though). The roast duck was the absolute highlight of my meal. It was cooked to perfection, with the meat being wonderfully juicy and tender, and a beautiful, thin, crispy skin with just the right amount of oily fat underneath the skin. The sauce it’s served in added to the flavours of the duck, and tasted particularly well with the meat, but I preferred the skin on it’s own. I didn’t realise it would be boneless, which was also a nice surprise, although I’m that person who loves the leg piece with the bone in.The string beans were great as well, very flavorful, and the beans were done quite al dente, which was different to how I’ve usually had it, but I liked the difference. It provided a fresh crunch which I found I liked. The minced pork was plentiful, and there was plenty to go with every bit of beans. The steamed cod was okay, although a little fatty, and I don’t like the texture of fat so I didn’t like it too much to begin with, but the actual flesh was better. It wasn’t the firmest flesh, but it was good, and the sauce gave it a good boost of flavour. The enoki mushrooms on the top I could have done without, as they didn’t do much for the dish, and they were also a bit cold and rather bland. The drunken cockles were not what I’d expected, and they were very chilli. I only had several cockles before I gave up due to the chilliness but my friend ate quite a bit, although we both agreed we preferred our cockles hot next time (drunken food is eaten as a cold appetizer though, and we just wanted to try it).Rice was hot, and cooked well, each grain was separated and singular, and not on the wet side and mushed together. The mixed fruit juice wasn’t great though, it tasted mostly of green apples, with perhaps the tiniest hints of pineapple and orange in it. My friend was convinced it was really just apple juice though. It did look suspiciously too greeny-yellow, like green apple juice, to be a mixed fruit juice. The service here was fast and efficient, although not the friendliest, but they’re definitely not rude, just perhaps a little busy. They did forget our bowl of rice though, but the waiter apologized and quickly brought it. My meal for two was around $160, which I thought was quite cheap, considering we had a cod fillet and a good size half roast duck.TIP: I didn’t ask what’s in the mixed fruit juice, but if you do decide to order it, perhaps it’s best to ask first, as it did taste suspiciously like just green apple juice. Also, definitely get their duck if you’re here, it’s a must-try dish.
