Huge disappointment with the foods served. Heard alot of recommendations of Victoria Station. The steaks are not up to par with the pricing. A set of steak with the price of 70+ has a terrible presentation and taste below average.

Finally visited this restaurant after years since my last visit. Heard a lot of bad reviews before coming but I wanted to experience it myself. Ordered a T-bone steak, some oysters, fish&chips, filet mignon steak, mushroom soup and lobster bisque. Only liked the mushroom soup and oysters. T-bone was too thin for my liking, also asked for a medium rare but it was unevenly cooked so the juicy part was only in the middle whereas the rest of the steak is almost medium well/well done. I don’t like how they pour the sauce on the filet mignon, I thought it was supposed to be served on the side. Also, their lobster bisque was too sour. Service was also slow apart from drinks and complimentary bread. And the staff pronounced filet mignon as “fileT magnun”.. Therefore more training is needed on the service.

Victoria stations is literally meat and potatoes, simple and unpretentious and conjure nostalgic reminder of my childhood (this was the time when KL had not that many steakhouse, unlike the food scene it is today), to be honest the steak is nothing to write home about, but it is decent and interestingly unique – especially it’s cooking style (gravy laden steak, I’m not used to this, ever since I indulge higher quality steak houses in the United States). This is definitely not the place for serious steak connoisseurs, with that said the food here is actually quite tasty and you can tell the owners take pride in bringing experience to the table. The ambience has the feel of a fine steak house with its gracious and well dressed staff, not to mention the ambiance that feels like an old colonial train setting. The restaurant even has a train table sitting area. The prices of the steak in anywhere from RM 73 – RM 90. A little pricey for the average joe, however each plate of steak is always accompanied with choice of potatoes and vegetable. The restaurant also offers lobster, seafood, lamb and even chicken. Prices for these items ranges from RM 30 to RM 200, with the pasta being the cheapest. I do like how the meal starts with a basket of fresh rolls and butter, very British. They also offer a range of soups, I would recommend the RM 21.90 lobster bisque, because you would find chunks of lobster in it, and its absolutely delicious. They also offer fresh oysters.I had the sizzling steak RM 73.90 – it was a sizable steak about 500-800 grams. It was drizzled with a rather interesting brown sauce , it was weird at first, as I usually like my steak on its own, with no gravy, but I did find myself addicted to it after a while. I even scraped all the gravy at the end. It also came with a perfectly baked potato, served with a side of chives and sour cream, served upon request. Also on the side was a perfectly grilled tomatoes, I wished my meal came with more vegetables, like broccoli and carrots perhaps. I was very disappointed with the shrimp cocktail. I was hoping for something more authentic, like shrimp hanging on the glass bowl, and on the middle a delicious saucer of red cocktail sauce with a tinge of horseradish. However the dish was basically boiled shrimp coated with thousand island sauce for RM 17.90 – very disappointing starter. The service was overall quite reasonable. The waiter got our orders right and filled up the glass of water. However I wished the waiter was more attentive in an empty restaurant when needed, my table was caught flagging the waiters multiple time in an empty restaurant at 4 PM, quite frustrating to be honest. Also at the end when we wanted dessert, the waiter only then informed is that the baked alaska takes 30 minutes to prepare, we were very disappointed, if only the waiter would have informed us from the very beginning. I also found that the staff, when we asked for the bill, was rather hovering at the table while we checked the bill, I think the staff should move a little further away and gave us some space when we actually need it. Overall the service was maybe 2/5. I might be back, but I hoped that the service could be better in the future, as well as an improvement on the appetizer such as the shrimp cocktail. I like that the restaurant was open all day, which makes it perfect for a lunch or dinner. Parking was plenty during lunch time and it was FREE street parking, however paid parking may be required during dinner service.
