If you don’t want to go to Puchong for some Vietnamese food fix, head over to One Utama instead. Of coure, the prices are higher since you’re paying for their rent and the air conditioning. Iced coffee RM 5 and iced lime soda RM 3 to start off the night. If you’re feeling adventurous, pop open the Sriracha and add it into your drinks. Just kidding. Wait for your food to arrive first.
Bad experience where owner refuse to allow using 1u points to redeem. Kept saying system is down all the time without trying. Insisted to redeem and owner reluctantly proceed, where there was no problem at all with the system. Then we were served with a bowl of noodles with 1 meat ball and small piece of meat (refer to picture) and this is worth RM13.90 Compare with picture in the menu is a vast difference and we felt cheated and shortchanged for using points to redeem Unethical way of doing business and will never set foot in the restaurant again
I first came to the outlet back then and had their fresh spring rolls and it definitely did not disappoint. The portion was quite big and thick for a spring roll. The peanut sauce was also flavorful without overpowering the spring roll. Do note that if you do not like mint leaves, you would probably need to tell them to not put it in.
Met a new friend who told me about O Banh Mi in One Utama. I’ve been craving for Vietnamese food for quite some time now so I know I had to visit the place. The menu is simple & straightforward with options – Pho, Bun, Broken Rice, Banh Mi, Spring Rolls and Refreshments.I ordered Iced Vietnamese Coffee, Grilled BBQ Pork Banh Mi and Grilled BBQ Pork Vermicelli & Spring Roll. The Iced Vietnamese Coffee (RM5) was spot on. Deep coffee flavor with the right level of sweetness from the condensed milk. I enjoyed their take on the Bhun Thit Nuong (RM 11.9) though I was disappointed when I saw the pork strips not being caramelized unlike my previous encounters in Ho Chi Minh. Good thing it was seasoned enough and they were quite generous with the serving. The rice noodles were not soggy while the spring rolls were crunchy. I liked that they added crushed peanuts on top as it created another interesting level of texture together with the bean sprouts, carrots and cucumber. The grilled BBQ pork Banh Mi (RM10.9) was also good. Crunchy bun with enough flavors from the veggie and meat filling. I wish there was liver pate and & more cilantro leaves for the banh mi to taste more authentic taste. All in all, I liked my first dining experience here but I’m not sure if I’ll be back any time soon as 1 Utama is 13 kilometers away from where I live.
