Didn’t know that the food here is so delicious and the price is affordable. Highly recommend their Hainanese Chicken Chop which taste sweet n sour of the sauce and is in a big portion. Their vegetarian fried rice oso taste good.
I went here with a friend for late lunch on a Thursday. The place was half empty when we arrived, with most customers already had their meals served. Getting a table was easy and so was getting the staffs’ attention. We were convinced to try the set lunch. The deal looked like good value. We both opted for the two-course set of main course + dessert. I ordered hainanese chicken chop while my friend chose fried rice with chicken. Our dessert selections were unfortunately not available so we ended up going for ice cream. While waiting for our food, I let my eyes wander and assess the place. The interior was basic with utilitarian design. The place exuded a typical, old-style, budget-friendly Chinese restaurant. There was no pretence from the overall look to the furniture used and down to the utensils. One thing that struck my attention though is its nationalistic fervour, with the Malaysian flags prominently displayed. With most customers already enjoying their food by the time we placed our orders, we thought that service will be faster but it was not. We still waited for a while, with my food served first and with my friend’s order coming out close to 15 minutes after. I was thankful that the place was flexible enough to accommodate my requests. I asked that the fries be replaced by steamed rice and that the sauce served separately on the side. My food came exactly as requested. In terms of taste, I found the dish to be rather flat. There was the slightest flavour that kept me from describing the chicken chop itself as bland. The brown sauce was far from how it should be. The sweetness was not pronounced enough and the sourness was not strong enough to make a statement. The sauce simply tasted watered down. My friend had a better luck with her choice. She said the chicken drumstick was average-tasting but the fried rice was delicious. It was not an inspired experience but it was not a bad one either. For the amount we paid, it was somewhat good value.
There’s set lunch available. Rm19.90 for hainanese chicken chop. It took so long for my dish to come. The sauce was disgusting, too much canned cut tomatoes. It doesn’t taste like Hainanese chicken chop. More like chicken chop drench in thick tomato soup. This lunch set comes with a drink. You only add rm3 for a side dish to the lunch set. The mushroom soup was really good and I enjoyed it. I find that there’s just too much thousand island sauce in the salad.
Had dinner here last week. Excellent food, cooked very well, generous portions with awesome sauces. We had Fish and Chips, Black pepper chicken and steak.
