Nigiri is definitely a good choice here. I felt that they can do better in bento and set meals because presentation looked a bit rushed and not to my taste during my last visit a month ago. Felt a bit disappointed with the Katsu Don. Egg is too runny and the rice is soaked. Hope they’d improvise cause I’m very particular with sushi.

I visited this outlet with a friend last week. The interior of the place – from the layout to the color palate to the ambiance – is exactly the same as the Singapore branches. The menu is likewise the same.It was close to closing time so getting seats by the sushi counter was easy. We wanted the said spot because we can easily grab dishes from the belt. However, given the time, there were limited options rotating and so we opted to order from the menu instead.I chose most of the items, focusing on my favourites. We had salmon sashimi, jo unagi, inari tuna mayo, ebi mentai mayo and gyuniku roll, to name a few. The look and taste of the dishes were all familiar. The platings were as immaculate as expected. This branch showed the same meticulous attention to detail as its Singapore counterpart. I also couldn’t distinguish the taste of most of the dishes vs. the ones in Singapore. The jo unagi was the only one that fell flat in my opinion. I missed the full Japanese bbq flavour that I used to get from this dish. I wished it was basted more with the said sauce. On the other hand, the gyuniku roll was a big surprise. The rich flavour of the beef, enhanced by the sauce, was simply mouthwatering. I don’t recall this dish being this good and to think I almost did not order this dish. The food here is simply delectable. My friend and I were more than satisfied with what we had. Service was equally good. The staffs were very courteous and attentive. Our orders were prepared with haste and even though the place was about to close, we never felt rushed. We enjoyed the dining experience. There was no pressure despite being the last customers. This experience reminded me why I loved Sushi Tei during my days in Singapore. Will definitely be dropping by again before I leave KL.
Expect good food and good value, and a 10 course meal could conceivably be finished in about 15 minutes, the perks of conveyer style sushi I guess. Both pre-made conveyer- belt sushi and Japanese favorites can be expected. Relatively affordable pricing, medium quality freshness, good sushi rice and good service ( well considering this is Malaysia). How affordable ? The sushi plates are charged according to colors, the cheapest white starts at RM2.40/plate while the premium purple plates are RM 10.40/plate and sashimi plates RM 13.20/plate. Caution though, even though the plates looks affordable, it can pile up like a tab at the bar, and be quite pricey in one seating. The dishes such as Unagi zen is RM39, Chirashi RM 32, Ramen RM 18-22, Soba RM 13 – RM 16 and etc is priced pretty reasonably. From my experience, prepare to dig anywhere from RM 30- RM 100 for a table of 2 or 3 ( It all depends on items ordered or number if sushi plates taken)In my opinion, the conveyer-belt sushi tasted fresh, the quality of the seafood fair, the rice nicely made, while the presentation neatly done and each sushi is sanitarily covered with a plastic white dome Its important to savor each sushi though, and not swallow in one bite ( I tend to do this), because the plates although small is quite deceiving, after the 5th plate, I usually go for 7-8, but in reality that 5th plate is more than enough. Getting greedy is easy here. Not everything on the menu is available on the conveyer-belt, therefore at times requesting for the more premium items such as uni( sea urchin), tamago mentai and etc would have to be done verbally to the server. My recommended sushi plates: Tamago Mentai RM 6.40, Kappa Maki RM 2.40 and Sanshoku Hana Salmon RM 13.20. SH Salmon is ideal for dieters, because there is no rice. But for those looking to indulge, sushi mentai is your buddy, because this rich tasty dish has a delicious smokey flavor of cod roe, coupled with perfectly cooked Japanese omelette and a perfect sushi rice texture. The service was good here, but I did come at a rather non-congested time. The service when I was there was attentive, fast and tea was always poured. The negative about this place: tea was charged at RM 3 each. Park at the gardens mall – there is plenty of parking in the parking garage. Avoid weekends.
