About
A local caf in the heart of Georgetown serving up Japanese-inspired fare with a Southeast Asian twist. Beans sourced from Ethiopia, Columbia, Vietnam and India. Gudang Cafe has been awarded the PAM 2018 ( Premier Award for Architecture in Malaysia) . "Gudang" means warehouse in Malay, is believed to have been used for storing wood in the 1950s - 1970s. Presumably completed in 1950, as is embossed above the front door, the building looks to be of colonial design. Upon entering Gudang Cafe, one will surely not miss the unique 45 foot long table, which the Cafe claims to be the second longest in Penang Island. Four 45 foot long pieces of chengai timber from an old bungalow has transformed this into one really long table which comfortably sits about 40 pax. Arrange a cup of hot coffee latte at the table's edge, with the morning sun streaming into the cafe, the image captured on your camera will make a memorable one which will be hard to forget.
