L 07 91-92, Lower Ground Two, Sunway Pyramid, Jalan PJS 11/15, Bandar Sunway, 46150 Petaling JayaTel#03-5611 6266. Arab food has become more popular, judging from the number of restaurants there are. Or have I just not been on the lookout for them? This meal was made possible, thanks to Fave too. Â Appetizer in the form of soup. It came with a side of herb crackers. They were thin and crunchy, rather out of place with the soup that could be best described as light. It’s similar to those free daily soup that some Chinese restaurants would give. Except without much vegetable flavor. Almost like a chicken soup. Just not as strong.
My First Mandi Chicken With Rice From Mandi Hadramot in @ Sunway Pyramid | The Rice was flavoured to perfection, with the chicken cooked way too well, to be soft, moist & almost falling off the bone, I loved every bit of it. Now can’t wait to try the version available in kerala | A little bit if history- Originated in Hadhramaut, Mandi (Arabic: المندي‎) is a traditional dish from Yemen of meat, rice, and spices. It is also eaten in some gulf nations and is now popular in other areas of the Arabian Peninsula. In India it’s popular among the Hadhrami people in the Malabar region of Kerala, Bhatkal of Karnataka, as well as Barkas and areas around Hyderabad. It’s unique because of the tandoor the dish is cooked, a hole is dug out & the meat & Rice is slow cooked sealing & locking all the goodness within. Because of this unique way of cooking, in Kerala it’s called kuzhimandi
Food takes some time to be served, waiting time around 20 minutes. Food was not hot upon serving. Had the chicken kebab briyani, mutton kebab mandi and chicken briyani. All three dishes were slightly bland and lacking spices. Atmosphere was nice, cosy and quiet.
