This is my go to when Indian Rojak craving comes knockin:- A Mamak salad dish. Totally unhealthy but extremely satisfying. I waited patiently as he piled up the deep fried and boiled ingredients, topped with eggs, blanched bean sprouts, strips of fresh cucumber and turnip before drizzling it with sweet and spicy peanut sauce. It looks messy but it’s a perfectly scrumptious mess. I could never resist my favourite, the cucur udang(prawn fritters) and had frequently requested for extras which he happily obliges. Under the hot zinc roof, I indulged as it is best eaten immediately because the fritters and julienne vegetables will wilt and lose its crunchy texture. For takeaways- he will pack the salad and the sauce in separate bags. I am sure that there are many better ones that foodies know of but I am perfectly happy with this one. The boss knows the right concoction to making my salad. Located opposite of Woh restaurant, near the rows of Malay rice stalls. Look out for his mini truck with Kabir on it. Closed on Tuesdays.

My first Cendol experience! Kabir’s Cendol is simple and straightforward, the lady started with shaved ice then started adding random stuff that I cannot quite recognize except for the green jelly, corn and beans. Lastly she topped it off with coconut milk. It’s a refreshing dessert, but one should never eat it when feeling hungry. I learned the hard way.
