Little Penang Kafe is a one stop shop for your favourite Penang dishes and I used to love this place growing up. There seems to be a high turnover of staff so they are not very attentive or ‘good’ however they are polite and the service is quick. Unfortunately they haven’t quite kept up with the times in terms of food – prices have gone up but the quality is going downhill and portions are small for the cost. It’s still a good choice if you are in need of a meal and find yourself in a shopping mall as there’s a franchise in most of the bigger and popular shopping malls in KL.
I joined my local colleagues for lunch. My meeting finished late hence they have already started eating by the time I got there. This place seemed to be among the favourites of the team. The place was packed for lunch service. The staffs were busy attending to customers. Service was rather basic and somewhat like those in hawker centers. I expected more customer-centric approach from a restaurant like this. That aside service was fast. Dishes were being served left and right. I still had to wait though for my food. I ordered seafood special char kuey teow, and as per the menu, it took 20 minutes to prepare. That meant it was freshly cooked. The noodles were perfectly cooked, coated with fried fragrant egg, soft with a bit of chewy and slightly sticky texture. It had a nice savoury and lightly sweet flavour with a subtle burnt aftertaste that worked very well with the dish. The seafood ingredients were fresh and came in adequate portion. I especially liked the prawns which were juicy and tasty. This ticked almost all the boxes for me apart from having too much beansprouts which did not really add much value and too little garlic chives that could have further improved the taste. I also found the dish spicier than I would have preferred. As I continue eating, the less I enjoyed the flavours because of the burning sensation in my mouth. I am certain that this would be perfect for others with higher tolerance of spicy food. I missed char kuey teow. I just don’t get one as good in Dubai.It was a reasonably priced meal and an overall average dining experience. Had there been better customer service orientation, I would have rated this place higher because the food was above average at the very least.
Their Char Koay Teow sedap! Saya selalu ke sini memang akan order itu sahaja bersama teh ais. Staff dia pun baik. Ada disediakan indoor dan outdoot seating area. Interior kedai ini seperti kedai kopitiam lama. Nice place to lepak!
Food is shit. Not authentic at all. Give it a miss for sure. Cannot understand why people bother to eat here when there are so many other places serving great Malaysian food.
