Cendol & Rojak Taman Kosas is one of the oldest shops in Taman Kosas. They used to have a small lorry where they sold all their food, but now they’ve moved to a more comfortable establishment. The food however has remained exactly the same, and it’s, for the most part, excellent. The cendol is the main star of the show here. The creamy and delicate flavours of the cendol are done well, and the amount of gula melaka added to the dessert hits a nice balance of sweetness. The standard cendol fare of jagung, pulut and kacang merah are all here, but Cendol & Rojak really upped their game in cendol variety. You can get multiple unique types of cendol here, including ice-cream cendol, milo cendol and even durian cendol. The prices for cendol are also very affordable, starting from RM2.50.Rojak and cendol go hand in hand in most cendol stores, and here it’s no different. The rojak at Cendol & Rojak Taman Kosas, while not the best, is still very good. Like the cendol, the rojak comes in a lot of variants, some of which go past the barrier of being snack food and becoming legitimate meals, like in the case of the rojak + mee + sotong, a delightful combination of the noodles, squid and rojak ingredients. You really can’t go wrong with the rojak here. That’s not all they have to offer however. Cendol & Rojak Taman Kosas has what I consider to be one of the absolute best mee goreng mamaks in Ampang. The mee goreng mamak here pushes the limits of how tasty a simple fried noodle dish can be. The noodles are fried just right, and the flavour is spot on. There really isn’t anything else I can say about the mee goreng other than that it’s a must try if you visit. Also on the topic of noodles, the mee rebus is pretty good. The broth is nice and thick, though some may find it lacking in ‘oomph’, so to speak. Despite that, it goes really well with some cendol, and I’d definitely recommend people to give it a go. Overall, I find Cendol & Rojak to have excellent food all around, though there are some small problems. The restaurant isn’t exactly in the most hygienic of locations as it’s right next to a bunch of drains, so it’d be great if they could do something about that. The store itself is usually clean, though its surroundings definitely aren’t. Also, orders can sometimes take a bit of time to make, though nothing too troublesome.
