Serving bah kut teh without the claypot? Almost atrocious but I decided to give this place a try since it’s supposedly famous. Also because the other one was closed. Located at a corner of the busy intersection that leads to another hidden gem, this place was buzzing with activity despite the heavy downpour.
This day will go down as another unforgettable day in my life. It will forever be one of the days I can’t forget for the rest of my life. As it is, I am still coming to terms with dad slipping off within minutes to heaven almost two years ago (more at Nasi Minyak), on this day, when I received a call from my bestie’s family, I felt as though my worst fear is gonna come true. Remember, my 30 over years different race and religion friendship I already told you at Kepong Heng Bak Kut Teh & Restoran Meng Kee Klang Road? Tragic! Utterly shattering day. My heart pumped so fast upon hearing that my bestie had earlier collapsed at the medical center and is now in critical care unit. Still, instead of breaking down and crying, honestly everyone, I put up a brave front. I told her sista I will there soonest possible. Thereafter, I called my other half-half and sobbed non-stop like a child.
Danny and I drive back from work everyday will definitely pass through PJ Old Town. Everytime we pass through, we saw a lot of people dine at the restaurants. Thus, one day, we decided to have our dinner there before we went for movie dating. We chose to have bak kut teh. It was sweet-smelting and make our taste buds tempted for it. Since we were the first customer, our food was served very fast. They have given additional bowl of soup. By the way, Ming Kee Bak Kut Teh is using common plastic bowl to serve the foor, instead of the claypot we used to have Klang style bak kut teh. The meat portion was very big, I was sure I will definitely have a very full meal on that night. The meat was tender. The soup was sweet and appetizing. The price was stated on the notice board and I personally think it was quite reasonable as we know pork are quite expensive nowadays. All in all, it was a pleasant dinner we both have. We are sure will back for another dining next time.
