First time stepping in after it was relocated & renovated years back. Had my lunch at here ordered a set of 5 dishes + 1 soup. Feedbacks were given while enjoying the foods. Overall, more negative feedbacks were given then positive feedbacks.
Today I have an opportunity to review the Dim Sum morning buffet at Sky Palace (食唯天) Fine Chinese Cuisine restaurant, in e.City Hotel building. Around 9am I make a move from home and arrived the One City Sky Park, Subang Jaya area. At first I was thinking whether want to park my car at the premium parking lot but I suddenly recall that you can park at the opposite of the building which is FREE of charge. After parked, I walked to the Sky Palace (食唯天) restaurant and waited Mr Sidney from BigBoySoven as he invited us to come.
Not recommended, is one of the bad experience in my life regarding to Sky Palace Restaurant services ! It will be my first & last time to step into this restaurant.
Sky 360, Subang Jaya – There is a certain excitement to rooftop dining over the norm of other eating venues. Needless to say the main feature attraction is, of course, the view – which evidently reflects in the price when dining at one. Sky 360 is one of the few rooftop restaurants of One City with a spectacle view of Southern Klang Valley – which has a generally low skyline, night lights and fast moving cars on motorways – that is hypnotizing and gives an odd feeling of calmness. I wonder if I would have felt the same during the day. Only one side of the restaurant has the view of this, so make sure you grab the best seat in the house! With bulky leather arm chairs and the sleek black colour scheme, Sky 360 resembles the restaurants in the hotel catering for business meetings and entertainment. Quite contrary, Sky 360 wants to cater for more casual social occasions, in style.Sky 360 offers an array of European cuisine. There is an a la carte or the buffet (RM 138.00 nett per pax) option. Luckily, I was in town at the right moment to participate in a blogger event held by Sky 360 for their Christmas festive launch. This menu is available from 16th November – 30 December 2015 at RM 145.00 nett per pax. We started the Christmas festive menu started with a complimentary drink – a glass of wine or cocktail or mocktail. This pretty pink mocktail was a combination of pink guava and pineapple juice – a touch too sweet. crusted tuna loin with mesclun green, orange dressing – The tuna starter set quite a high standard in terms of cooking technique and skills involved. The colours looked harmonious and the presentation was like a playground for the tuna. Unfortunately, the tuna was a little dry, the jelly was bland jelly and the orange yoghurt dressing, if drenched on the plate, tasted more like a dessert platter. After the cold starter platter, there is a choice of either the lobster bisque or chicken royale consommé served with garlic bread.lobster bisque – as expected, it was punchy, flavoursome, intense and just a little overseasoned. chicken royale consommé – in contrast to the lobster bisque, this chicken royale consommé was too watery and diluted. Then came this beetroot raspberry granita. What a striking palate cleanser it was! I delved into the rim of the glass, taking for granted that it was frosted with salt and so, was left unspeakable when I found out it was sugar. It was also quite firmly stuck on so, I am pretty sure that it was merely decorative purposes. The mains had three options, all accompanied with garden fresh vegetables (I would appreciate it more if the traffic light peppers and the spring onion were grilled or roasted). The respective sauces were a touch overpowering. The plating takes on a fine dining approach but lacks the synergism of flavours. It was a showcase of some cooking skill but very different from their tuna starter. medallion tenderloin beef with potato fondant, market fresh vegetables and green pepper corn sauce – the sauce was slightly overpowering; another very pretty dish with bits of vegetables.salmon fillet with capers relish, lemon ginger cream sauce, boiled potatoes and garden fresh vegetables – A beautiful combination of the caper relish with the fish; and the fusion ginger sauce was not needed. Almost a unanimous agreement from the other bloggers that this was the best main of the three. corn-fed chicken with spinach and ricotta with mushroom sauce, truffle mashed potato and garden fresh vegetables – the piece of raw spring onion was a little too pungent for this dish. Finished off on a sweet note with this walnut caramel crusted tart with sour cream and berries compote and coffee or tea with cookies and pralines. The pastry skill on the tart was an accomplished work. The thickness of the pastry was very even, cooked through properly and texture was buttery and crumbly altogether. It was a very good tart and if you like caramel, I am sure this would go down very well. The compote berries was, for me, brilliant with the right balance of sweet, tangy and fruity. I’d be happy with another spoonful of the compote. I thought pralines had nuts? This was quite a nice tasty chocolate with a soft center but definitely no nuts seen or tasted. I found the portion sizes were small and even after the whole menu, we could still eat more. Service, although helpful, but we got the feeling that a smile for the festive season would certainly cheer things up. The menu is quite expensive and at that price, quite a few things should have been better.I enjoyed the concept of a rooftop restaurant even when the comfort, service and quality of food takes on a lesser priority, but how much should that be compromised?
