I didn’t know this business had re-opened, because they were closed for a long time. I went for a roast meal for the first time in years, this week. The woman took ages to serve me, she couldn’t speak English, so indicated she was going out back….I assumed she would get someone that could communicate, but no. She was out of the shop for ages. When she came back, she began putting my meal together which is pre-cooked. By this time 15-20 mins had passed. I went there to get a meal fast. She got the meal together, then she was clearly waiting for the male out the back to serve me & take payment. He ignored the situation and kept cleaning & putting rubbish out. She spoke to him once only, but he continued to ignore me. By this time 30 mins had passed. There was one customer eating at the table.I totally had, had enough by now, so I walked out in anger. Clearly paying customers were not as important to them, as the rubbish out back. I won’t waste my time again. I didn’t even get an explanation or apology.

Very cheap and good portion but what I like about here is the cook here is very very friendly and caring! And food is very clean ( not an open kitchen but somewhat it kynda is so you can see the cook cooking) he is not the best person to order in English to (as eng is like my 3rd language and I barely speak it too so it doesn’t help lol) but he is really really nice guy and make sure he understands you and you understand him! Not sure if he is the owner but hopefully he is then he will stay here for long means I can come here for long long time lol

They LOOKED crunchy, but they were extremely soggy 🙁 Gravy was gelatinous, glad we got it on the side. They have an A rating, but the place was not well cleaned. Gunk was built up around the edges of the glass cabinet, the eftpos machine needed a wipe, looked like fly spots on it, though may have been dried gravy. Overall, it was ok, but we wont be going back.
lovely service… delicious kung pao chicken and big portions. the roasts are good too 🙂 cheap cheerful and satisfying. I would recommend this plae its really good value for the quantity and flavour !
One thing we always make a point of going out of our way for when we are in NZ are the Deli Roast chains cafes. One can get a roast vegetarian dinner for a song. ($7) Throw in a Yorkshire pudding for $1 extra & there’s a meal you will remember all night long. The vegetables here are so tasty am sure they must use organic ones
We have been to the Deli Roast on many occasions over the past few years. They offer the standard roast options and a great variety of Asian dishes at extremely reasonable prices. Yesterday we had the BBQ fried rice ($6), the lemon chicken ($8) and the wontons ($8). The wontons are the best we have had in Auckland and we consumed them all. The fillings of the wontons are generous, moist and delicious. Both the other dishes were equally as delicious and so generous (and that’s just the medium size) that we have leftovers for a lunch tomorrow. The kumara and pumpkin (which I regularly get on their own) and the 12 roast potatoes for ($6) are also very good. Overall very good value, with generous servings at very reasonable prices.
