This is the local dinner restaurant for my family. Have gone many times and they never disappoint. The staff are so friendly and while the restaurant may not have the best location the food makes up for it. Best dishes are: Chicken satay skewers, Thai green curry, Pad thai, massam curry. Nearly anything you order off the menu is delicious. In the picture is lychee sago pudding which is a great dessert.
Love this restaurant. I have been there numerous times and the food is always extremely flavorsome and the waitresses are very welcoming. My go to favorite is the Pad Satay Sauce with chicken, Veges and Thai peanut sauce (F.13), as well as the mixed entrees (E.12). I usually go with take away because my only downfall is that the restaurant is a bit stuffy for my liking but nothing I cant look past. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the mood for some amazing Thai food!
With Thai Chef being around the corner you would think this place would ‘up’ their game a little. I left feeling disappointed after tonight’s meal. I had recommended this place to my family as I had great experiences in the past. Well this was a bit of a let down. To start with the ambiance had no warmth of welcoming feel like it used to, there were flys everywhere, the staff seemed tired and one of the waitresses didn’t have her medium length hair tied back which was a little off putting. They used to serve fresh water with lemon slices in a jug. Now it’s just tap water. I ordered the duck Thai basil which had more duck fat than duck meat with minimal veges only a plate of onions and sauce also no sign of Thai basil and no spicyness. Partner had pad Thai which he was disappointed with to find two prawns a couple of pieces of chicken and lots of tofu to bulk it up. Mum had a chicken dish which was ok.. And dad had the sizzling seafood platter which he enjoyed. Sad to see this place go down hill.
Last night we revisited the Thai Rain Forest after a gap of a number of years. The restaurant was not too busy but was doing a great trade in phone order takeaways. We shared marinated prawns in wonton pastry and the mixed entree for starters, and for the mains Tropical Jungle Curry with lamb, Battered Chicken with stir fried vegetables in Tamarind sauce, and Pad Thai Jae (vegetarian). The prawns were large and succulent, and the curry puff and chicken in wonton wrappers were standouts of the starters. The curry was full of spicy herbs and a good hit of fresh ginger, and the lamb melted in your mouth. The very generous serving of stir fry chicken was beautiful with a light soft batter and fragrant sauce. The Pad Thai Jae was pleasant, but standard. The service was a little inattentive, although the kitchen was busy, but overall the quality and quantity of the food meant that the meals were good value for money.
Have takeaways from here every few months on work visits. Ring through my order and arrive and it’s ready when I am. Good value for Thai and the green curry is lovely. Good local takeaway and friendly at the counter. Typical decor for a Thai restaurant, small and pretty intimate.NB: Have never dined in.
I live around Albany village, so pretty convenient. We went to have dinner here tonight and we ended up leaving, the service was slow it took the food forever to arrive. We decided to walk out 45 minutes after we ordered because we could hear the chef coughing and spluttering all over the food. Wouldn’t recommend this place at all, I am.not sure what is going on outback.
