Excellent food. We like the dumplings and the beef with oyster sauce. Im wondering if its a family run place and the staff are really cute and helpful
Best chinese cuisine, In albany. Great food. Friendly service. Extensive menu and huge portion sizes. I had the double slice pork belly for lunch and I feel like I could last a week without eating again. Will definitely be returning for many lunches to come
Really good, great food great service and nice place. I think that it is really worth a visit cause the food is very delicious. I recommend dumplings.
Dined here tonight with two others as we were after a dumpling fix & our regular was closed. This place isn’t the flashiest but it’s clean enough if you want to dine in or they also do takeaway, the menu is very large. We were after dumplings & they have a great variety to choose from, we chose pork prawn & chive in the end as well as some fried squid. We dined in & the service was pretty good, the waitress gave us menus as soon as we sat down & we were given complimentary green tea. Our order was taken & food served in very good time. The dumplings were tasty & well cooked, we were given soy sauce & vinegar but some chilli oil would made it a perfect dish. The squid was a generous portion & another enjoyable dish. The prices at secret kitchen are pretty reasonable for the quality of food you get. I would probably return if I was in the area.
A good little place that is quite popular with the lunch crowd in the area. May be because their lunch menu is quite inexpensive and quick to be served. I wont rave too much about the double fried pork belly on rice today as the garlic shoot which is one of the main components, was chewy as wood! That spoilt it for me while everything else was fine. But it is definitely not enough to stop me from giving it another go.
Went to the restaurant to get takeway dinner, asked for No Jalapenos as I am allergic to it, staff were not able to talk English and added Jalapenos instead to the chicken, HORRIBLE service
I’ve always disliked overly red and sugary sweet and sour pork. So having finally found a sweet and sour pork dish that has neither qualities yet still packs flavour was a tremendous delight!Trust me on this, you have to try their fried sweet and sour pork; it’s listed first on their menu for a reason. The irresistible batter was crisp and not oily, and the pork (fillet, I think) was tender and succulent. The sauce, tangy and fresh due to the carrots and coriander, complemented the crisp pork superbly and was the dish’s highlight. An excellent quality dish served in a generous portion.Besides that, we found their fried plain pancakes immensely satisfying. Served in a basket, they were freshly hot, crisp and had to be eaten ASAP. Although it may be a bit oily for some, it’s delicious because of its texture.Their hot and sour soup was good as well.Mediocre offerings included the satay fried noodle and their dumplings. The noodles lacked a flavour punch as it was not obvious that the sauce was satay based. Their dumplings, I can tell you, were definitely not homemade as they taste exactly like the ones we buy pre-frozen. However, as Secret Kitchen isn’t a dumpling house, we didn’t mind that much.Service on the night was warm and friendly. The decor was simple and clean, well-suited to this type of restaurant.Overall, a cosy and warm restaurant serving tasty Northern Chinese style food. We will definitely be back.
