We ate here for dinner about a week ago whilst travelling to Auckland. We don't normally take the kids out for dinner but this little place was awesom…

We love this place- favourite dish is the tika masala, butter chicken and the saag. Great Naan breads. The only thing I would fault is the tandor chic…

First of all. Customer service is awesome. Butter chicken is sometimes on point, other times it's as runny as water which is disappointing. Best mango…

First of all. Customer service is awesome. Butter chicken is sometimes on point, other times it’s as runny as water which is disappointing. Best mango lassi in the warkworth region though!
Got the mixed platter entree, was delicious and then so were our mains- got aloo ghobi and a chicken tikka masala and two naan breads. Best curries we have had in ages and the customer service was fabulous. Would recommend and will definitely be back.
I have been ordering Briyani rice from Don Masala. The flavor is good but just felt the rice is a little soggy. But still I enjoy eating it 😀
Doon Masala was so-so. Nothing special and nothing to write home about. We called up to order 3 butter chickens, 2 butter naans and a cheese naan. We waited around 25-30 minutes which was fine. I guess that we anticipated something better because the butter chicken really didn’t meet my expectations. It lacked in dimension, was slightly watery and didn’t tickle my tastebuds. The cheese naan was ok but I don’t think I’d come back here. Service was great but the food just didn’t add up.
Have just moved to Snells Beach and consider myself an Indian Cuisine major fan! Since Doon Masala was just down the road I rang up one night and ordered some takeaways. The service over the phone was really good to start with then when I received my food… WOW!! It was so good! the flavors and spices were perfect and the chicken cooked to perfection. It literally melted in my mouth.. I’ve been back several times and tried other dishes and am so satisfied. It is really Good Indian food! Good sized dishes, good price, good service.. A+Keep up the awesome and delicious food Doon Masala! 😉
UPDATE APRIL 2014: DOON MASALADined in, in April 2014, found the service to be very slow, despite not many in the restaurant itself, the food was under spiced, without a trace of heat despite ordering curries med-hot. Also very small dishes, and not enough rice provided. Waitress could have done a better job of offering drinks, more water etc, or upselling some naan and other snacks. A different experience to our take outs we got during March 2014. UPDATE MARCH 2014: DOON MASALAOrdered take out from Doon Masala last night, was very pleased with the service both on the phone with taking our order and with the speed and pleasantries on collecting it. The food was hot and freshly made, despite the 20mins drive home with it… it was still piping hot and ready to serve up. We ordered for 5 people, and all enjoyed our meals, generous portions too, with lots of leftovers for lunches today. This position has seen many restaurants come and go over the 10 years I’ve lived in the District, I really hope Doon stays around, looks after the locals with meal deals on the quieter week nights and keeps consistent with service level and good quality. I think this has been the biggest downfall of the other restaurants who were in their spot at Snells Beach. Thank you Doon Masala, please keep up the good work, we look forward to dining in next time.ORIGINAL REVIEW: THAI AROMA24th September 2012Dined at Thai Aroma two weeks ago for dinner with my partner. We both enjoy Thai and had a selection of 3x entrees to share, a Green Curry and a lovely Stir Fry with Chicken. The prawn entree and spring roll entree was lovelyThe mussel entree was described as in half shell with garlic, we ended up with some tiny dry looking mussels without the half shell presentation which was very disapointing. The Green curry was tasty, but extremely runny/watery much more so than we have experienced before. The StirFry was lovely and everything was served hot to the table. Both mains came with a scoop of rice, which was already on the warmed plate. A generous serving of rice.We BYOd the wine and whilst the service was a bit slow for a restaurant that wasnt busy only 2x other tables of people (one group of four, one other couple), it was a nice night out close to home for us. Bit drafty and cold though. I kept jacket on the whole time, and Im never one to usually feel the cold.I wont be rushing back, but it was a pleasant change.
We didnt dine in but had takeaways (we picked up). the food was great! tasty and fresh! generous serving. First impressions of the actual resturant was that it was unappealling – strange combination of decor. Service was good.
