Some nice Hot Chocolate pretty much did the trick when I was waiting for the bus to go work.DecidedNOT to turn down the marshmallow this time, as it is now Autumn it’s starting to get a bit colder in the mornings.Their description pretty much says it all, quick making the orders. And they were, I’m pretty sure it too like at least under 3 mins to make my hot chocolate ad they were really friendly as well. It’s quite a small caf to say the least. Going inside, the walk flow is almostlike a ‘V’ shape with a couple of bar stools on the left. These are the sort of cafes you would like on a rainy day and you jut rush in order something and relax in a small environment looking at the raindrops outside.
The barista is so lovely!Food is great, would recommend their incredible Crunchy Chicken Noodle Salad with homemade dressing (which is dairy and soy free, in case you needed to know!), and their Chicken Pesto which is a toasted Turkish pide with Chicken and an amazing basil pesto… And their Pesto Bacon salad with spinach and penne pasta.Great service, well priced for the location and the quality of the food (top notch!) and all the Defence careers and Police and Fire frequent this place, so you KNOW it’s good! The quirky messages that adorn their tip jar will make you want to tip them (if the service and food and coffee doesn’t already!<3
I love Charlie Boys! The best coffee in Auckland, whether it’s made by the owner or the amazing resident blue-haired barista (however her soy flat whites are something akin to a religious experience). Great for a takeaway coffee during the work day, and even better to sit down and people watch in the early morning, as this is definitely a cafe full of regular customers.
Jerry,Celia and their coffee are life savers! I wouldn’t be able to survive my highly stressful job without a Charlie Boys coffee everyday for the pass 3 years!Sadly I’m changing jobs and won’t be able to pop in as often as l would love to. Will surly miss their amazing coffee, delicious muffins, yummy chicken noodle salads, spicy fish pies and more ! Wish them all the best with their business!
Coffee isn’t too bad, the range of food isn’t that great. A little bit on the pricey side but not too bad. Would go here again. Visited there last week.
By name this establishment is a ‘coffee bar’. It has a fantastic La San Marco espresso machine… it even has a Mazzer grinder… so why do you get served ridiculously bad coffee in paper cups when sitting in the caf? The coffee when sampled was a latte. It was lip burningly hot, it had zero mouthfeel and tasted like instant. Milk texturing was poor. I expect this quality from a petrol station. If you want a decent coffee go elsewhere. Anywhere.Food here is more or less a non existent afterthought.Coffee Bar??? Not a chance. No point having a sexy coffee machine when you don’t know how to use it!
