My boyfriend and I always opt for Pad Thai or Tom Yum Goong whenever we have Thai food, so this time we decided to go ahead and each try something different.I ordered a Rad Na Seafood and my boyfriend got a Pad See Ew w/ Chicken. I loved the flavours of the rad na as my tastebuds were welcomed with the familiar taste of oyster sauce, something that I grew up having quite a lot. There was a good variety of seafood on the plate, I especially loved the scallops, and there was a good amount of rice noodles tucked away at the bottom. The pad see ew was delicious and it seriously makes me wonder why Ive never ordered it before. The soy sauce wasnt too overdone so the flavours were balanced very well, and this dish is definitely something I will opt for next time. Plating of the two dishes were presented quite well. The dinner prices for this place were quite steep (although justifiable for seafood), so it was definitely worthwhile to use our gold membership. Service was efficient and friendly. There was a bit of an issue with lots of small fruit flies flying on and around our table although that seemed to be resolved once we closed the window a bit.
This restaurant is tucked away behind stairs on Wellesley street and has a really nice grandeur feeling to it, complemented by the authentic dress and hospitality of the staff who were very warm and welcoming. The tables were also setup as full service with table napkins and cutlery, which is often missed in Auckland’s casual approach but I find to be a nice gesture.Drinks – I ordered the Thai milk tea and it was really good, and very well made, soothing on a humid Auckland evening.Food – The chicken Larb was really good and they serve you as much rice as you require, which was a nice touch. The rice was of really good grain and quality, and the Larb tasted exceptionally good. The one thing I can’t figure out is why this place was deserted on a Thursday evening – it deserves a crowd!
