I had high expectations after booking dinner at this place. But it went south pretty quickly. The starter was horrible with the crisp at the top of the duck salad tasting like it’s at least 1 week old and not crunchy at all. They did make an effort to make it look good, but this means nothing! The food was bad and not fresh.The steak was also the worst steak I’ve ever had in Auckland. The outside was burnt and tasted bitter and the inside was raw! I’m never coming back here again. So many other places to try out where your money can go a lot further. REALLY BAD EXPERIENCE!
Personally I really love the ambience of this restaurant. Service is really very good, waiters are very attentive and social. I did breakfast for 2 days during my stay. The food is fresh, quantity and quality of food is good too.
Opted to order off the menu for brunch rather than go for the smorgasbord, and was pleased with our decision. Meals were incredibly tasty, service was great, nice touch was receiving a complimentary shot glass of berry smoothie. Second time we have dined here and not disappointed
Ordered from here whilst staying at the hotel & have to say the food was really yummy! Had a gourmet beef burger and fries for dinner and the salmon egg bene for breakfast. Was super easy, fast & presentation was beautiful. Really enjoyed the food here. Definitely recommend you try it out.
Amazing food!!! Loved the chicken off grill and we also had Hapuka fish. They were all dishes well executed and beautifully cooked. Would easily go here again and the service was good too! I was so hungry and not to mention with how good the food looked, didn’t bother taking my phone out to take pictures this time. Must visit!
Had the pleasure of dining at the Straits Cafe on Saturday night during a one night accommodation deal for 2. Started by sharing a main size pork ribs between 2 lovely and tender and oh so tasty. Would of been easier to manage if they were cut into individual ribs but,oh well, Yes we did ask them to be cut up and this didn’t quite work out.My Boullier Base for my main was chock full of Mussels Snapper and Calamari fantastic intense flavour, My wife had a Duck Pasta that was nice but could not finish it.We went back for the Buffet Breakfast in the morning and it was as good as anything I have enjoyed at a quality Hotel. loved the Smoked Salmon that only appears at the very best. A variety of cooked eggs is the only thing missing scrambled or hard boiled eggs only.
Recently I stayed at the Rendezvous for a conference and landed up having my evening meal in Straits Cafe on a couple of occasions. I was pleasantly surprised both times with the service and the food. One night I had some excellent lamb shanks which were tender and juicy and another night I had a very good steak.Staff were helpful and attentive without being irritating.
