I love this little place. I visit Auckland from Perth twice a year and always make a point of visiting Customs Coffee House. In a world of trendy coffee shops, this place is homely and the food unpretentious. I stayed quite late in the afternoon once and enjoyed the friendly banter of the owners and regular customers. I also appreciate their knowledge on teas which is sadly lacking in this era of coffee dominance.
Best mocha I’ve had in NZ so far. They use real chocolate and not crazy sweet like Starbucks. If you prefer to actually taste the coffe then come to this place.
Super rude barista, a matter of time this business is downhill. If this is your attitude I wonder if the water used to make coffee is toilet water. We are disgusted.
The young barista is very rude. That womanneeds peace in her soul. She always is sour. She doesn’t know how to treat people. I really feel sorry for her. I will take my money to other place. Not recommended at all. My friends were so disappointed with the quality of the coffee. Chai was good but her customer service has been the worst that I have experimented in NZ.
In spite of its name, Customs Coffee House is a place for trying teas. They have a good variety and quality teas, while the spresso is just average and bitter.Located in the heart of Auckland, it’s a good place for a stop after a walk through the harbour. The chairs are not that cozy, but the staff is very friendly.
Customs Coffee is a charming place with a great tea selection. Located in the 1920s Queen’s Arcade, the coffee house is small and cosy but with seating in the main arcade hall too. Great selection of cabinet food. Coffee is good too and flavoured coffee is offered. Items can be a bit pricey but this is mitigated by great customer service and a very classy atmosphere.
Good coffee. All the baristas are very friendly and nice (especially the older lady and the girl with the English accent), except for the manager who seems to have a bit of an attitude. At first I thought it was just me or she might have had a bad day, but reading the responses below you can feel the attitude permeate throughout her responses.Otherwise – Coffee would be 4 stars and employees 5 stars__UPDATE: Yes I have got the right address. I’ve seen an elderly lady, a young English girl with an English accent, a young Asian girl and a tall Pacific Island woman all behind the counter, (at different times of course). I assumed they work there.
