Made it to one of Al Brown’s restaurants! All the dishes that we ordered were absolutely delicious and the presentation was immaculate! The fish from the sliders was so fresh; soft and melted in your mouth. The tempura batteres cauliflower were so crunchy like popcorn. The sauce underneath it was a good combination. The bluff and mahurangi oysters was so clean and fresh as well. A bit of a squeeze from the lemon, made it extraordinary! The lamb ribs and lamb neck were also perfectly cooked; the meat fell off the bone and was tender. Their potato skins were so crunchy, and that extra salt from the parmesan cheese made it even better. Kingfish sashimi, Ceviche with Taro chips and the Venison cheeks were a spot on 9/10! Lastly, the cookie skillet was my favourite out of the dessert selection. Followed by the Mulled Wine Tamarillo and the Sugar pie.The ones that let me down were the Kina cream buns. A weird, yet foreign taste had hit my tongue. I was expecting the bun to be soft, but it was really doughy and stiff. The bowl of brussel sprouts was absolutely way too salty, we had to send it back to the kitchen.Would absolutely come dine here again! The menu is designed for sharing, so grab a group and get chowing! What a great experience I had. Staff was friendly too!

This is just my personal review – I had very high expectations because it is rare for a dining place to have an average of 4.9 stars. I tried the sliders and the crisp pork hock during my visit. I did like the amount of seasoning they put on the pork, not too salty and not too bland. However, I did not find it to be spectacular as it had been pointed out by many people.

Despite the non-booking in advance and long waiting queues, this is still my favorite seafood restaurant of all times.Located on the Federal street opposite Skycity. The restaurant has a chaotic but chic environment. Their menu isnt forged and hasnt changed much since 5 years ago, but you can definitely rely on the quality of food.Their oyster and tuatua are always fresh and well prepared. The fish sliders are super tasty with the right amount of sauce. The lamb ribs are done so well that it melts in your mouth. The complimentary roti with hummus is super delicious as well. I also recommend the kingfish sashimi, duck confit and potato skin.Friendly and attentive staff and food are very quick to serve.Downside: only supply tap water, difficult to park and evening waiting queues are 30 minutes plus.Food: 10/10Food presentation: 7/10Service: 9/10Location: 6/10Ambience: 8/10Price $50 (or above depending on how much clams you can handle)

The oysters were addictive, not only the ingredients but the preparation was without losing any freshness. It has a rusty and unique settings that made you pardoned the unusual. One thing I really dislike is that the front line staff moved already seated guests around in order to pack more people & profits in. Twice I went, each time I got asked to move at least twice.

Im not a big fan of paying full price for meals… but this place is just too good! Its been 5 years since I first came here and their menu hasnt changed much at all!Delicious slider, magnificent raw seafood, and past is just too delicious. Dipping the bread in soaking up the sauce just equates to happiness in life.Service can be slow, they dont take bookings too.Simple elegant delicious. Food: 5/5We came here for a light dinner. I got the lamb ribs and they were super soft and juicy. The cumin flavour wasnt too overpowering, but you could tell that it was seasoned with cumin. Came with a standard mash on the side.

I had high expectations as the rating is 4.9! Must be the highest amongst all the restaurants. However I give it a 2 mainly because of service. We came at 5 30 well before dinner time. There were a few empty tables and we could sit anywhere. There were many waiters/waitresses around but it was difficult to get their attention. 2 other tables were having the same problem. They were very slow at getting us wine menu and water. At one point, there were 3 waiters all cleaning up one broken glass off the floor. Food was good though. We had sliders. They placed sliders on a paper sheet which looked like it’s some kind of instruction to build a cool machine. So we asked a waitress what the machine is, however we got the answer that this was nothing. This is a sheet which could have been used to wrap the plates/seafood when they arrived. So she also doesn’t know what it was about. We felt it was quite unsanitary. Kinda ruined our appetite.
