Yummy pies and friendly service, best combination and perfect place for dessert in this cold weather. The restaurant has very diner vibes, everything on the menu is simple yet New York City quirky. The banoffee pie is amazing! Topped with crunchy popcorn and whipped cream, even the base is divine. I usually also get their sandwiches, great for a quick lunch or to share.

Home of the best cheesecake in NZ! Not exaggerating the NY baked cheesecake is pretty amazing. We had the salmon latkes, Kahawai Hoagie, hot dog and chicken salad sandwich. Simple ingredients combined to create delicious meals. Great location and impeccable service, friendly staff and food came out fast. Delicious sandwiches and desserts on point. Bottomless coffee – yes please!
I have been wanting to come here for over a year now after hearing such good reviews about this place.Service: 8/10There are no bookings allowed here so its a great walk in option.The waitresses were super nice and quickly cleared up a table as soon as we entered.The waitresses have impeccable memory and didnt even need to write down our order, and made zero mistakes.The food did take over a hour to be completely served and we were often left with waiting for long periods of time between dishes.They would often change our dirty or used dishes so we had clean plates all the time which was quite nice.Food: 9/10We ordered the small mussel and pastrami chowder, salmon latkes, milk-fed veal schnitzel, turkey meatloaf, large poutine, kahawai hoagie and the three way.The chowder had a deep seafood flavour filled with hearty vegetables and pastrami but it was also quite salty. The bread was super crispy and buttery.The latkes were crispy and the smoked salmon was very fresh. The milk fed veal schnitzel was fried and crunchy which meant it wasnt very tender.The turkey meatloaf was my absolute favourite dish and I still think about it till this day. The meatloaf was filled with aromatic apples, nuts and spices which made the flavour POP.The poutine was a greasy delicious mess filled with gravy and cheese curds.The hoagie was a basic buttery bun filled with crunchy battered fish and delicious light mustard.For the three way I got the ny cheesecake, lemon meringue pie and banana toffee pie.The cheesecake was my favourite which consisted of a super creamy thick sweet base filled with cheese flavour. The biscuit base was a little too thin and I could barely even taste it.The lemon meringue pie had a sweet base and meringue top which contrasted the super tart lemon syrup.The banana toffee pie was super sweet and was topped with crunchy popcorn.Ambiance: 10/10This place has a super reminiscent American style which reminds me of the diners in New York.There are old stamps and postcards displayed in the booths that boasts the old fashioned style.The kitchen is open and the cakes are all on display. The workers and diners are all dressed in American diner style clothing.The restaurant is quite dimly lit which creates a casual tone throughout the restaurant.It can get noisy inside because of the amount of people and the chefs talking to each other, so its not great for a private conversation.The theme may be seem quite old but the whole restaurant is unbelievably hygienic and clean.This is the best American style restaurant in Auckland. Al Brown really knows how to create good restaurants.
Food : 4/5Atmosphere: 4/5Service: 3/5Federal Delicatessen is a very very popular diner. When I arrived, I Instantly liked the vibes. It was very relaxed, chill and unique for Auckland. I loved the uniforns the staff wore because it made me feel like I was away in the US!The food was enjoyable. I tried the poutine for the first time ever here and its so good! Everything was good.The only negative thing was that I felt like the waitress was trying to rush us near the end? I also asked for my Sandwich toasted and felt like the waitress was very impatient about it.I’ll definitely be back though mostly because of the overall feel of the place!Apologies for the low quality photos- I was using an old phone.
This New York cheesecake is so tasty!The cake is well flavoured and not overly sweet. Its a little zesty and creamy. I would imagine this is authentic because its super delicious.Duck parfait was very nice. Toast was super crunchy and light.Fries were great also. Could be a bit more crispy though. Good service.Would return
