Checked out this fairly new place located at Queens Rise. We came for early dinner, it’s cosy and nicely kitted out with open kitchen where you can view what’s being created and bar is cool too.We ordered Clevedon buffalo mozzarella and Parmesan garlicky loaf they were both delicious and calamari is the perfect accompaniments.I ordered mocktails which was made on request it wasn’t the best but I’ll give it to the bartender for trying. I just wish they had mocktails menu for us non alcoholic drinkers that resembles a pretty cocktail Great place for a relaxed dining experience with reasonable prices.
Decided to go to Queens Rise for dinner and ended up eating here. Grace is located on the far end of the escalator, with an entrance near the top of Swanson Street. It was empty when we came so we were seated and given menus promptly. We decided to order a few things to share. The Serrano ham and manchego croquettes were nice. Nice creamy center and very smooth. The fried pork belly was nice and crispy but I found the sauce too sharp to have by itself. My favourite was the marsala mushrooms. Nice marsala flavour and served with very smooth and creamy polenta. It was quite a nice and filling meal. The food were more like tapas rather than meals so a nice place to try a lot of different things.
The menu looks absolutely lovely and the presentation of the food is superb. The prices are very reasonable. Really nice ambience, low soothing jazz, we could actually hear ourselves talk! Service was good, fast, willing to adapt for our requirements but muddled. We were bought the wrong dish at first but it was fixed quickly. The Grilled fish was very nice, fresh and lemony and beautifully cooked. The New Yorker was not overwhelmed by the Cheese and Ham Croquettes but pronounced them ok. They made us a salad ( The New Yorker likes his greens ) which was not on the menu, it was delicious! Coffee is excellent too. Cant say wed come back though.
So I don’t normally write massive reviews, but seeing Queens Rise is reasonably new, I thought I’d do a decent one so you can make some informed decisions. There’s heaps of places in Queens Rise to choose from and Grace is tucked down the back if you’re entering from Queen Street. We didn’t know what to expect walking around and because the whole place is new, you can’t judge by reviews. We picked Grace by looking at the menu and having a chat to the staff who were really helpful (especially because one of us has intolerance’s). It was more empty than most other places when we arrived, possibly due to its location but was packed when we left. The food we had was really well done. The flavours were excellent, interesting and had a unique twist and the presentation was great. Between two of us, we ordered the grilled broccolini, polenta chips, pork belly, tuna poke (which was amazing!) and the bit on the side cocktail and the breakfast daiquiri. It was spot on for the amount of food we needed. What I really appreciated is when we asked the staff if we’d ordered enough between us, we got recommendations back based on the flavours we’d selected, not the quantity we’d ordered and in the end it was just the right amount. To top it all off, the cocktails were awesome. The only downside? The chairs and tables just aren’t designed for someone my height, but that’s nothing unusual.Would I go back here again? Absolutely, I like this place.. Nice food, nice atmosphere, good staff and great drinks….it’s a shame I didn’t bother to take photos, but that’s not really my thing.
Rolled into Grace during our little exploration around Queens Rise, wasnt sure what to expect but Im glad we chose Grace. The ambience and decor was what drew my attention, very bright and welcoming. Menu had a good selection of things and the prices were reasonable.Initially we ordered the Wagyu Skirt Steak, and a Watermelon Salad, however was later told that the watermelon ran out so went with a Pork Belly dish instead. Both were lovely and well presented, the steak was very well seasoned and the Pork Belly melted in the mouth along with a tangy kick to it. The chef later brought out the Salad that he had prepared (minus the watermelon) as it was already made, which was a nice addition.Overall it was a delightful experience and definitely one of the nicer finds around.
Lots to choose from at Queens Rise. We decided to try Grace.Service was friendly & welcoming. Specials on beer & wine when you dine in early. Nice to see the open plan kitchen & chef talking to the customers when questions were asked about the menu. We chose the cheese burger with bacon & the roast chicken which is a very tender rotisserie chicken cooked at the neighboring restaurant also owned by the same people. Both dishes were delicious.
