Absolutely love the food & service so much Im contemplating going to Japan for a holiday. The lady here was so friendly & hospitable I wanted to hug her. The chicken was piping hot straight from the pan, totally made with love this dish. Good portion of salad, chicken tenders and rice. definitely recommend
5/5 for everything such a kind and wonderful woman and she makes the most amazing foods I go here most days for lunch while at work and she never disappoints SO AMAZING 🙂

I had a Karaage Don at En. Taste was very yummy, big portions were very nice. Quality was very good, despite it being in a food court. I was surprised at the good price, with a $5 lunch which was Sukiyaki Don. Chef’s special of $7 for Chicken Katsu Curry is also really amazing.En is owned and operated by real Japanese people making real Japanese food, which is very hard to find in Auckland. That makes it very special.I will try their value meals and specials as often as possible.I recommend En to everyone.
Autumn At En – And the New MenuIts been nearly a year since I went to En, and so I thought it high time to review them since that first really great experience. The news is good – if anything, En are doing things even better, and their Autumn Menu moving through to winter is really good, and a big expansion on the already excellent general menu.Today, my flatmate and I went to En for lunch. My Flatmate had the Chicken Katsu Don, and I had the Tonkatsu Ramen. We also ordered small salads to begin with.En service includes green tea served in glass, which you can see in the fourth image – this is awesome.Within 3 minutes of ordering, the Salad arrived – it was crisp and fresh, crackly and delicious, with a honey viniagrette which added to the experience. The ramen was amazing ! Egg, melt-in-your-mouth pork, seaweed, and fresh vegetables. The soup was also exceptional, with a fine balance of flavour, saltiness, and a fine layer of oil telling of quality throughout. the soup was clear, before becoming opaque optically. However, it does not settle out at all, and is delicious all the way through. My Flatmate had the Chicken Katsu Don and said it was the best he had ever tasted – which is a big thing coming from him.Highlights :Prompt, Friendly ServiceFreshest possibleHighest qualityIncredible pricingDelicious !Downsides :None, really – how many restaurants can we say that about ?I’ve given En 5 out 5 only because I reckon they really deserve 10 out of 10 !Tell everyone you know about them – I certainly do.
I completely agree with Dan Dream-Team’s comment. I am Japanese and very picky with Japanese food I pay for. Have been there a several times andthe quality of food is very impressive. So far I tried salmon, white fish, prawn tempura, vegetable tempura and fried tofu. Most of them are fried food but they are not heavy and very tasty. After a little chat with the owner, I found out that the ingredient comes from another Japanese restaurant she owns. It explains why theyuse such a good quality seafood. It is definitely good value for money. I don’t eat meat but my Kiwi friend tried chicken dish. She loved it too.
Wow! Real Japanese dishes created by Japanese and cooked by a Japanese Chef. So, unlike all the other so called Japanese places around here. They are Korean, or Viet/Chinese mostly, posing as Japanese restaurants/Cafes/Takeaways.FoodPhoto menu makes ordering quick and simple. The dishes I have tried have been the Pork, the Chicken, and the Salmon Donburi. I have had the Salmon several times. I guess I think it is healthier. The Meal Deal with drink and salad and a miso soup makes a complete lunch a real bargain. Fresh produce, nicely prepared and cooked. Very tasty, especially with the sauces they use here. It seems that the chef makes them himself – not Chinese factory made sauces, loaded with sugar and salt, out of a bottle.ServiceWhat can I say? You order (maybe by pointing), you pay, and you get your food pretty quickly.AmbianceIt is clean and neat – graded Class A by Auckland City Council – not much else to add.Value for moneyExcellent. Beats the sudo Japanese eateries in the area. Only hope they add a delivery service to nearby offices.
