As the afternoon tea at the grand tearoom is not a listed option I had posted this against tgr Lobby. The Grand tearoom is situated on one of the apartment floors so the concerige must give you access. For functions the room reminds me of the refurbished train station in beach road. A fresh coat of paint but unmistakably old.The miniature crossiants with ham were nice as were chocolate profiteroles that weren’t too sweet for an afternoon. Club sandwiches also ok for a light luncheon. Choc brownies a bit too much for those without a sweet tooth so can’t comment.
I came here for a business meeting with a client. It is refreshing (pun intended) to have a hotel lobby bar serve genuine juices! They had a decent few selection of raw juices and smoothies! There was also an option to customise your own juice! I chose to take out all fruit from my choice: celery, ginger, beets, lemon. I thought it would taste bitter but the staff were definitely skilled and made it taste divine! For those of you watching your waist line, I 1000 x recommend hosting your catch ups or business gatherings here! Go on, swap your coffee or afternoon hot chocolate for some juices!!
Lacks atmosphere. The decor is tired and needs updating. The browns and beige have to go! The staff are not overly friendly and they’re a bit mean spirited with portions. I find it ridiculous for a Hotel to only serve Gluten free dishes when they’re supposed to be good hosts and be able to service everyone. My advise is to get wine glasses with unit lines as I’m sure people are being ripped off. Also, over summer holidays, have the bar open on the roof top every day…not just 3 days a week for 3 hours. Very poor
For a drink and some Tapas before dinner, theatre or with friends this is a great venue, with exceptional food and wine. The focus is healthy, with all food being vegetarian or vegan – but such really scrummy food that even confirmed meat eaters would enjoy it. The wine too can be vegetarian and they also have very good looking smoothies and other non-alcoholic drinks (but I didn’t try these).
