When going to a concert at the town hall, this place is brilliant to dine at beforehand as it is only across the road. The menu is a bit limited but the staff are always friendly and helpful. We arrived half an hour later than expected due to hold ups in the traffic. The waiter quickly found us a table, suggested which meals could be cooked most quickly. took our orders and got our drinks. We got to our concert on time having enjoyed a good meal.We will return !
Was planning on having dinner here before going to a comedy show across the road. Upon arriving and being asked to wait at the door, we received no further attention from the staff. We walked away and found another diner nearby
I had their eggs Benedict with salmon. The hollandaise sauce was perfect! I’ve had eggs Benedict several times and this place got it right!!
I visited this restra for breakfast early in the morning and i think they were not prepared for 10-15 guests :). The menu is not that exciting considering it a restra within the hotel where heaps of tourist stay. There was no filter coffee with the continental breakfast for some reasons. So we decided to go for normal ‘ latte’ which was served in a difficult to hold mug!We only liked flaky croissant and fresh cut salad.
I went for dinner with a friend of mine, and we were generally very confused, but mostly pleased. Some parts of the meal, such as the mash and jus with the ‘Free Range Chicken Supreme’ were exceptional, while the chips my friend ordered were quite disappointing. My Caesar salad was very nice, but had large anchovies in it, which I would have enjoyed much more if they were smaller or chopped up so they weren’t so overpowering. The antipasto platter was definitely tasty and enjoyable, but wasn’t at all what I expected, especially the chopped up sausages, salmon salad, and no cheese. In terms of service, the staff were very pleasant, although slightly inattentive, I drained my glass of water quickly, and it was never refilled throughout the meal despite it not being especially busy. The waiter who took our order had a little difficulty memorising the order, and we wondered why he didn’t just use a note pad. He got it 100% right though, so no problem.Overall, a nice place, but it was bewilderingly inconsistent.
The $10 lunches are quite good value. There is a club where you can accumulate points and get $5 lunches on Fridays, it has a pretty big following. The cheese scones are huge and very filling. Every time I have had a cheese scone for morning tea, I have been full (sometimes very bloated) for the rest of the day.The chocolate cake is delicious and the cream that comes with it is amazingThe hot chocolate is nice and chocolatey (very important!)Certain staff members could do with a bit of cheering up though…
My mother and I dined at this restaurant before seeing the topp twins + the APO on Thursday night. We were taken care of very well, the wait staff were very friendly and efficient, the food was superb, and the prices were very reasonable. We thank the MLC Cafe for a great start to our evening.
