To be very honest, the food is average, not too bad and not too good, just normal cafe food. Im leaving this 1 point review ( I wish I could give 0 ) just for the service. The services is REALLY bad, I mean it. My company is close to Salt and I have bought morning tea from them for more than 10 times. No smile no hello no good morning, sometimes waiting there for a few minutes and no one ask what would you like. The staff there are always busy whiting the price on the glass for the cabinet food. I always buy 10+ muffins or bagels, every single time, I was TOLD OFF that why I didnt make a booking. Ok, fine, I understand you want to sell more food and make more money. But as a customer, I want to buy at anytime I want, Im paying for it. I dont plan a morning tea, I just buy when I feel like it. Thinking in another way, I am buying a lot of food so you can sell your food quicker. And, can you please be NICE when you talk to me? Once my colleague got the morning tea from you guys and he felt the same way, Im not the only one then. Of course, not all the staff are horrible. I dont want to describe in here which staff is better and which one is bad. If the owner still cares about this business, Im happy to discuss. Cheers

This caf is alright; I think it’s just somewhere people go because it’s convenient to their work/meeting place. I had scrambled eggs with salmon once, and the portion was quite filling. Eggs were fine but I noticed the salmon was a bit clumpy, like it was still thawing from the freezer. Overall, nothing really stood out in terms of food and drink but the atmosphere is nice and the service was fine.

I work across the road from salt and it is definitely our go to!! The cabinet food here is the best I’ve seen. They have different options every day and lots of gluten free options available which is great for myself. Their orange and almond cake is my favourite, or the banana and chocolate muffins. Coffee is fab too especially the iced coffee.

Salt is hidden. Yes literally !! Salt is the cafe inside NZI building. Great coffee with plenty of cafe food options this is one of my regular go to place now. Love the various salad options which can mix and matched too.

Auckland Caf great food experience!Travelers with special dietary needs can sometimes go hungry with the products on offer in most places. It is rare to find a cafe centrally located which not only serves good nourishing food but caters well for those who ask for the most common special dietary fix gluten free.Salt the vital ingredient is situated in the NZI building at 1 Fanshawe place in central Auckland. The staff is competent friendly and willingly to accommodate visitors with different requests like vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free obviously they know what these labels mean because they can give you 3 or 4 choices from their menu.Add to this the fact that they prepare and cook their own dishes, cakes and pastries and you have as close to a home-cooked meal as you can get in a foreign city. The coffees are good and the surroundings modern and full of light. Situated in a glazed atrium, the cafe offers a great range of meals and snacks to hungry business executives, workers and visitors who have discovered this oasis in the central city.Chloe and Janelle on staff were more than helpful with Chloe signaling future expansion of lunchtime services in this eclectic little eating-place that has only been under her management for six months. Full marks to her for taking a very ordinary coffee establishment to an example of culinary excellence at very reasonable prices. We dropped by on a recommendation and continued to come back two or three times a day while in Auckland well worth it and greatly appreciated.
