I’ve been coming here for the past couple of years. So far I’ve tried something different each time. Today I got Chicken Tenderloins Vienna Sausage and Steak on skewers. The Chicken Tenderloins were something different that I tried and now I love it. I’ve always loved Vienna Sausage since I first tried it. The steak was also a new thing I tried and was very tender. I recommend you come here if you would like a very delicious meal.
Personally dont understand the hype with this place. The atmosphere and vibe is really cool but the food is pretty average in my opinion. It just lacks depth, flavour and any kind of wow factor. Portions are small and didnt taste the freshest. Service is quick and friendly enough. Good to place to visit for the experience and ambience but not the place to go if you want amazing Japanese food.
Tanukis cave is located downstairs below Tanukis sake and sushi bar. The restaurant is dimly lit and offers yakitori style dishes and Japanese sake. The restaurant has a very cosy vibe to it and I love coming here as you can order many varieties as each dish comes with two or three portions. On this occasion, we had a large group so there are multiple skewers in each photo. The service is always lovely and my favourite dish being the deep fried cheese! The price is also super reasonable 4/5
This meal really took me back to Japan. The ambience and food is so authentic. It is always packed here but serve is quick. The people are polite and attentive. A great place to sneak away for a bite. Only downside is it gets a bit pricey, to get two people full you are looking at spending $100.
Reserve only for very special occasions – this place is totally over priced. The food is great, the atmosphere is great and the staff are great – but the portion sizes you get for the price you pay just doesnt add up. $120 for two people and you will walk out still hungry. When you take a trip to Japan and dine in a real Izakaya, eating amazing food and paying very little, itll make you think twice about dining here again.
