I’ve never written a review on here before but their crispy pork with kale dish is my favourite cheap eat in Auckland. Their food is cheap, plentiful and super tasty. Every one of my friends I’ve taken there loved it.
My partner and I used to live up on Parliament Street and would eat here all the time. For Valentine’s day we thought we would take a walk down memory lane and come here for tea. This place is located in a little food court. There is hardly any parking on the road, we used the street pay parking on Parliament Street and walked down. It’s a 5 min walk. For this particular visit we had the Satay Chicken and Spring Roll appetizers. Both were delicious, we really enjoyed them. There was not a long wait to receive food as we went at bout 3pm.We will come back here, we like the food.
Used to come here every week to buy takeaway. I love the chef (older guy) probably owner I guess. But now It has been another younger guy. Just not my flavour anymore.
Solid consistent food, this is our go to for team lunches. Priced perfectly and never disappointed. Call ahead of time as there is usually a wait during the lunch rush.
I love the food here. It is real and has flavourful food. There is such variety of Thai/Malay food and more. They also sell the best chips (French fries) in the city. All my work colleagues love them too. I have also tried there pasta dishes and I got to say it’s better than some Italian restaurants I’ve been too around the world. It is in a dingy food court but don’t let that put you off coming here as the food is worth the visit.
I was feeling like something spicy the other day but didn’t want to go too far. Thai Issan is located in one of those dingey food courts that you wouldn’t take your mother to BUT that’s where you find the diamond in the rough places isn’t it. Firstly, service. It’s a food court so you get food court service. Food: I got the seafood laksa, and while I wouldn’t have minded a little bit more spice I was very satisfied. The sauce was yummy, veges perfectly cooked with a slight crunch. You get a choice between prawn, seafood and chicken. I ordered the seafood which only has prawn and squid – it would have been nice to have a little bit more variety but I’m not complaining. The squid was cooked well, there’s nothing worse than a chewy squid to ruin your meal, so we’ll done. Anzac Avenue is an eclectic place with uni students, business people and the lower socio-economic – the food court reflects this mix. It’s quite refreshing to see this in Auckland nowadays.
This place is a must for uni students!Forget about the so called ‘dirty food court’ name. Yes they are located in one but is a gem in the rough. Cheap meals. Most of their menu is $11 and under. Recommendation: Try the Massaman Curry. Coconut milk infused curry with a hint of nutty flavour. One of the milder curries. I hit up this place whenever I don’t have food in the fridge.
