In recent years, weve seen an explosion in variability of the food offerings available from the creative fusion flavours of Simon & Lee, to plant-based cafes like The Butchers Son and pop up sandwich fare like Hare & Turtle. 2018 heralds the rise of the all-day eatery, where diners are offered a broad range of experiences depending on what you feel like on the day and to the hour (because why restrict hollandaise sauce to 8am?) Gone are the days where Dennys and Maccas were the only choice for eats with your mates at 11pm – now Avondales Browne Street eatery is the place to be. Marvel at the modern industrial fit-out featuring white walls, exposed copper pipes and black aluminium train tracks tracing lines in the ceiling. Locally-blown lightbulbs pair well with the circular artwork on the walls. A couple of huskies observed the lack of sound-proofing in the heavily-concreted space so its a bit loud, the only upshot being others cant eavesdrop on your heart-to-heart. We were enamoured by the exciting and inviting menu Ham Hock and Parmesan-Crusted Eggs on Toast and Maple Walnut Panna Cotta French Toast. We couldnt sample it all but dont go changing – were coming back for you.Check out our individual food reviews here: husk.co.nz/lunches/browne-street

Bumped into guys from here one night during the week and they mentioned they used to own another place which did fried chicken with their eggs Benedict and as Im a fan and working my way through Aucklands egg Benedicts thought would head a long and give it a go, long story short … eggs Benedict with fried chicken , Im a fan 🙂 goes really wel together and probably better than bacon , sorry pigs the fowl beat you today. The rest of it … food was good , service was good and quickly shown to a table when walked in and a real hive of activity with plenty of staff, also had a cake which sounded interesting and was really good , lemon polenta and rosemary 🙂 would do that again , had taken a bite out before photo taken oops , would I go back again ? Yes I would for sure 🙂

I had a last minute dinner here with a friend on Saturday. Although small, the wine list is great and likewise with the menu. We both ordered the lamb with potato and goats cheese croquettes – amazing! Generous portions but not over the top in size, presented really nicely. I am looking forward to trying them for brunch!
