Dominion Road, is literally one of my most favourite places I vibe with! You can basically park anywhere and walk along both sides of it and find any food and drink eatery you can to fulfill your taste buds! Steamboat is literally one of them! Cosy, little joint where you can eat meaty hot pot! Second time ive been back here and its always satisfying. Cucumber, Wasabi and Garlic salad side dish was the most crunchiest / refreshing, everrrrrrr! Unfortunately, i had to replace the word for an emoji due to the restrictions but yall get the point. Pan Fried Pork & Chives Dumplings were bomb, juicy and succulently pan fried with a little golden texture to soak your palette! If you cant be bothered waiting for New Flavour to have a spare seat, this place wont disappoint! If your a hot pot virg, then theres a few tips you should know before eating here! You can choose 1/2 & 1/2 with two different soup basis if you want a non-spicy broth, seafood broth or just a standard meat type of broth. You can add any veges you want in it, with additional sides and sauces to suit your liking. The meat portions are very generous and the fatty lamb is self explanatory for a mouthful of goodness! If your stuck, ask questions! Theyre always so helpful, which made our second visit the most comfortable as we knew what we were doing this time round! lol
We came across this hidden gem as we were looking for a place to eat. The food was amazing and such good value for money! The service was also really great 🙂
One of my favourite places ever. A hidden gem on Dom Rd (its literally a door that leads you up stairs to their shop so very easy to miss). These guys probably remember me as the lady who always orders her boiled dumplings with a side of fresh garlic cloves, or maybe the lady that almost choked on said dumplings one time. I still love this place and come back regularly, so I think thats saying something. This place serves delicious food at excellent prices. Their stone pots are always filled with goodness which we love – they dont skimp out on the ingredients unlike many other restaurants. This is our favourite Golden Steamboat too, in our opinion better than the Albany and Hamilton stores. Sometimes their food takes a while to arrive but that could be because we always arrive hungry. But their servers are always friendly and overall this place is the bomb diggity.
Very disappointed would never like to come back here. Service level 0Food quality averageStaff started eating food in the restaurant while customers are eating.
Good fried rice but poor service, staff eating on tables while we were still there and the table next to us was full of dishes when we came one hour ago and no body bothered to clear it. Never coming back.
Love this place for the or literally translated as roasted fish, though this dish is actually a deep fried fish served in a hot pot of mala (numbingly spicy) soup, with a very generous mix of napa cabbage, bok choy, wood ear fungus, kumara noodles, beancurd strips. You can add additional items like spam (what they state as ‘lunch pork’ on the English menu) for extra. But really, that order on its own, with a side of rice is more than enough to feed 3 hungry mouths. The brewed pear tea in jugs are great for sharing too.
This is the place you come for steamboats (as you can see from the name) or hot pots. It is where you are served a hot boiling flavoured broth and you choose a variety of meats and vegetables to put in and boil in the broth and dunk it in sauce. Their dishes are mediocre but the steamboat is delicious. I recommend the mushroom based broth. Make sure you ask for an English steamboat menu. The servers are very attentive! Always a lot of Chinese people here! I also recommend the Dou Fu Ru or Red Tofu Sauce, Seasame Sauce and Golden Steamboat’s Special Meat Sauce as the dipping sauces! Food is brought to you in a trolley and you choose what you want to boil first! Delicious!
