Visited this place last week, recommended if you love north east chinese food. The beef pancake is a must have, yum, A+++ The boss lady was very kind to offer free watermelon slices for each table, which is quite good for the hot summer time.

Use to like this place and come often, the owner was very friendly and ths food was yammy. Score two is totally for the food, the service were totally crap now. We went there this evening at 6, after me and my wife sit down, there were two of customers sat next us on a big table, owner’s attention was completely drawed by them, totally ingored our order request, we called the other lady for three times to get our order done. We ordered three dishes, the first dish came in 10 mintutes which is fare, however in the next 35 minutes nothing come anymore, all the dishes go to the big table. The other two dishes were not even prepared when we leave at 6.45. So disappointing, will never return.

Just randomly ordered a chicken stir fried noodle and didnt really have expectation but it was surprisingly yummy. Thought it was Chinese rice noodles at first because the noodles were quite wide but turned out it was more like hand pulled noodles. The noodles didnt have consistent thickness but were really chewy the fried noodles had eggs, cabbages, mung beans and most importantly the chicken. They must have slightly fried the chicken before putting it into the noodles. The chicken was really nicely cooked and still juicy inside. Serving was big also.

Came here on a Thursday evening. We were greeted by the very friendly owner herself. She is such a lovely person, made us feel right at home! We got 4 dishes to share between 3, all of which are names that I have no idea how to translate myself, but I will try my best . We got a Kungpao Chicken, Fried Pork Skillet, a Tofu dish and a potato strips dish. The potato strips came to the table first; very flavoursome. The vinegar and subtle hints of garlic worked very well together. The potato strips are also very delicately cut, almost like vermicelli. Next was the Tofu dish IT WAS MASSIVE!!! Its basically fried tofu, prawns, crab sticks, chopped bamboo shoots, woodear, chopped carrots all rolled in a sweet and salty sauce. It was very enjoyable, freshly hot out of the gwok! The Kungpao Chicken was probably my favourite. Ive had this dish many times in other restaurants but Lilys Garden probably sealed the standard for me. Chunky generous portions of tender chicken pieces piled high on the plate, which you can find fried peanuts and chopped spring onions amongst it. The flavour is top notch, its the perfect balance between salty, spicy and a touch of sweetness. My friend from Beijing said its the most authentic Kungpao Chicken hes tasted in Auckland, and thats saying something! The fried pork skillet in spicy and sweet sauce was a bit disappointing, it didnt really resemblance what was displayed in their menu…also, it was more like fried batter than fried pork. The fried batter was crispy but it was too thick and the pork was too thin and got easily lost in the mouth. Moreover, it was more sour and sweet as opposed to being spicy and sweet as advertised. Nevertheless the owner Lily is very very friendly, perfectly representing the personality of people from Dongbei, which is the style of cooking of the restaurant. Moreover, most of the dishes are better priced than some other places, so its worth giving a try! The place is a little small though so I would come in smaller groups.Price: 8/10Food: 8/10Ambience: 7/10Service: 10/10

Friendly and warm people. We go back often for the vegetarian options, which are great! It can sometimes get very busy at peak times and it’s a small place, so bear in that in mind.

Been there on a rainy Thursday evening around 7pm, it was full of people and no one was handling the customers in the front. They really should hire 1 or 2 more people to help serving. Service is undermining the deliciousness.
