Staff were friendly and service was Attentive. However food taste was not highly tasty although portions were generous. It is in very handy location and price is reasonable so maybe try again one day.

I dined at Manee Thai last Friday with a group of five. The waiter promptly brought us the menus and came back after 15 minutes to get our orders. We ordered 2 Lychee Martinis, 1 Jamaican Martini, a Chardonnay and a Stella Artois to start off. For the food, we ordered 2 x Pad Med Mamuang (vegetable + tofu stir fry with cashews), fried egg noodles (tofu and egg), 3 x Red Curries (2 chicken, 1 tofu), Pad Bai Krapow (chicken basil stir fry), Kae Pad Prik Gang (lamb with lemongrass, mint and veggies).I thought the staff had gone to Jamaica to get the Martini because it took them 30 minutes to bring us our drinks, and the restaurant barely had 12 people. The Jamaican Martini had crushed espresso beans floating on it and looked like someone had drunk half of it. We asked for it to be filled like a normal Martini and the waitress took the drink to the counter, put some ice in it, and brought it back after 10 minutes. The owner gave us the drink and said that this is how they make it in their restaurant. By then we were all getting incredibly tired and hangry and didn’t want to argue so we let it be.35 minutes later, the food arrived before our plates and cutlery did. Since the last time I was here, there has been a reduction in the portion sizes. The curries weren’t bad, but they weren’t special. You could get the exact same taste from a ready-made Thai curry paste from your local Asian supermarket – not ideal when you pay $18-$20 for one curry. The egg noodles were subpar, you can get better from a Chinese takeaway. The best part of the evening was the Pad Med Mamuang. Damn, was this delicious. The cashews were crunchy, the sauce had a perfect consistency, the tofu was delicious, and the vegetables were fresh and cooked to perfection. I couldn’t fault it.I came to Manee Thai after four years, and there isn’t much of a change if I’m honest. The issue here seems to be a lack of organisation and leadership. There’s inadequate communication between the staff and the customers. When the customer inflow surpasses their expectations, the staff get frazzled. A lack of preparation is a poor excuse when 1. It’s a Friday night, 2. You’re on Dominion Road, 3. you’ve been in the industry for over half a decade. It’s not okay to keep customers waiting 30 minutes for their drinks and an hour for food. Had the waiter told us there was a delay in the kitchen, we would’ve understood, but instead, they avoided making eye contact until the food arrived. The restaurant is in a prime location, but it’s disappointing to see that they’re unable to get the basics right after so many years. If I haven’t made it obvious already, I won’t be returning.

Good ambience. Friendly service. But it takes time for the order but its worth the wait. Moderate pricing, try no:41 in the menu. Keep up the good service. Cheers.

Each and every food was delicious. Specially the red curry (lamb). Fried rice was tasty but chicken in the rice was a bit over. friendly customer service. Would love to again.

Pity the food is not rich and delicious like Zap 2 Thai opposite them. Lovely layout inside but food pretty bland. We ordered a soup, noodles and a stir fried dish. Their style of Thai not my style hope they look to follow Zap 2’s lead and recreate their recipes

We used to like it, in fact we were regular customers until we were abused by the owner last night!! Absolutely unacceptable. They served us a side plate of vegetables which included chopped stalks of broccoli and lots of them! We were told that the reason for this is because broccoli is sooo expensive at the moment – wtf! Broccoli is 2 for $3 right now. If they had simply run out of broccoli then fine just be honest and tell us, offer something else instead and move on. The price and stalks arent the point. The point here is how rudely the waiter and owner treated us. Over an $8 bowl of broccoli stalks. She refused to deduct the stalks from the bill, verbally abused us then barred us from the restaurant- which we frequent on a weekly basis!Bad and very silly move. No more will we dine at this establishment. Theres lots of competition out there so you should think next time before you become so abusive and defensive about the price of broccoli stalks! I had my 3 children with me and they took an incredibly long time to serve them simple meals of fish and chips and we had to ask repeatedly for some basic paper and pencils to keep them entertained while they waited. Will never return. Really appalled by the way Skyes Mum (the owner came rushing out of the kitchen to yell at us about the price of broccoli! So unprofessional and upsetting for my children to see her bashing away at the till shaking and yelling at us. Skye and one of her friends are still arguing about it with me on social media! Unbelievable! Perhaps instead focus your attention on getting your meals out in time and not serving the vege dregs to your customers. Will never return!
