Perfect little udon restaurant for the cold weather. The udon is served still boiling in the clay pot so you know its going to be hot! We ordered the agedashi tofu to start and my steamed chicken udon also came with a piece of sushi. The portions are real big too, I couldnt finish my meal. The restaurant is small but cosy and the staff are really friendly. Will definitely go back!

Found this spot when it was new and have been returning for months. The food is very presentable and hand made udon are the taste of Japanese authenticity. It has gained so much popularity now that we struggle to find a seat as compared to when we first visited. I just hope the standards and portions dont change due to increase in popularity!

Delicious broth and noodles, huge portions too. Would highly recommend. The tempura wasnt on point when I visited (chicken underdone and vegetables stuck together in one big mass) but definitely planning to go again and give their other items a try.

I was really excited when I saw that this place had finally opened. It’s quite a small little place and it was pretty busy for a Wednesday night (7.30pm) too – so I guess that it’s a good sign! Interior looked nice and simple.Their menu really sold their udon dishes – however if you have no background in Japanese, it could be a bit hard for you to understand the menu as it didn’t have the English translation of certain meals, like what the dish included etc.We waited a long time like 10-15mins and no one came to take our order despite the times we turned around hoping to catch someones attention. We ended up walking to the counter to place our order -_-While we were waiting for our meal, we witness TWO different waitresses dropping the customers beverages on the floor (lol). One unlucky customer had beer dropped on her from her hair down to her back. Luckily she was a lovely lady and just shrugged it off. I feel like the waitresses aren’t trained very well in that perspective.Anyways! Most important part – the food. So our food arrived in about 10-15mins as well and it looked HUGE. I ordered the Kashiwa with Kake Udon. It was … different. The noodles were nice and firm however not much taste overall. Quite bland and I could taste some ginger in there. The chicken however was very juicy and tender!I also ordered a iced matcha latte – no lies, I thought it would served in a glass like they do in cafes. But nope, it was one of those drinks that you could get at Asian marts. Low key disappointed though. Think it was like $4-5 for it too.Overall, didn’t make much of an impression on me. But I would definitely go back and try something else on their menu.

A wonderful find on the already busy Dominion Road! We’ve been here twice now and both times have been amazing. Udon is nice and chewy, and the soup base for the hot udon was very flavourful. I love the fun of grinding your own sesame seeds for the prawn tempura cold udon, which also tasted fantastic. The range of a la carte side dishes is great – I recommend the potato salad and ika geso karaage (deep fried squid legs)There are also drinks and donburi options for those into something else. The place is nicely decorated, though a bit small. There are seats outside while you’re waiting and the staff are all very accommodating and friendly.Definitely recommended! Will be back soon 🙂
