Decent kebab/Chinese BBQ sticks. Taste is very rich and sometimes can be overpowering. Dishes are rather mediocre.Recently upped the price, definitely on the expensive side, can easily cost over $40 per person (exclude drinks).Casual decor and self service. (Watermelon cushions!)Sadly it is still one of the better Chinese BBQ place in Auckland. Avoid dishes, focus on the sticks and you’ll still get a decent experience here.
The mrs brought me, hoping that I would like this place despite it having its downsides but yea, na. The ambience and service didn’t bother me as they are Asian standard but the food is a complete let down and for me it’s the most important part. We had a couple of drinks, the mrs didn’t complain about hers but my taro milk tea was barely cold, not blended properly, flavourless and didn’t look appealing at all. We had the cucumber salad which had a funny taste so we didn’t finish it. The seafood soup appears to be water/broth based with tomato pieces, egg and frozen mixed seafood pieces (squid/fish balls/prawns) which was again flavourless, and stingy considering it was a massive bowl it only had 3x prawns in it. A bit of a money maker I reckon it is.We had various bbq items which all had tons cumin on it regardless of what it was, were either over cooked or under cooked, really just not cooked with any love.Not pictured, we also had some dumplings which were large but tasteless.The overall execution of the food here is quantity over quality and made with no care. I give it 2.0 over a 1.0 because I do appreciate the generous portions but that’s not necessarily a good thing all the time and that’s true here. Really not keen on coming back here at all but the mrs seems to like it so might have to give another go.
I came to there on 25 Dec, they charge holiday surcharge without notice, the price is totally different from the menu in the apps. Cheating, will never go there again
This place used to make really rice and authentic lamb kebab but the last time I came here they seem to changed the owner and no longer use the traditional charcoal to make the kebab anymore? The good side is the restaurant smells better without a lot of smoke but the drawback is the taste was completely different and has gone down a lot compared to previous. We wouldn’t travel that far to come for it anymore 🙁
I am very impressed with the taste of food. Food came out relatively quick.Reasons that I only give 3-star, not 4 or 5 (actually if I can give 3 1/2 star, I will are (1) I got Grabone voucher for this outlet, and the initial waiter that came to served us didn’t know anything about it. Only the manager or the owner knows what is happening. So little point deducted for confusion. (2) service wise wasn’t as bad or rude as described in other reviews. Actually was quite ok UNTIL it came busier after 6pm. We arrived @ about 5:35ish. Only 3-4 tables occupied. So at @ that point, service was above average. However, after 6pm when restaurant started became busier, less attentive. I believe mainly because lack of front of house staff. My experience is that they were not rude at all, just not attentive as should be and they seemed to be in a rush. (3) Obviously when less patrons were there, carpark wasn’t a issue. However when busy, I wonder where the late arrival would park their cars.
Terrible service. Rude staff. The whole dinner was not well organized, we booked a table earlier but still had to wait like forever, it really upset me.
Worst services EVER! My friend and I were first told to wait 20-30 mins for a table. So We went out and waited in our car. AFTER 40 mins we never get any updates what so ever and we called up were told to wait for 20mins and the lady who picked up the phone were not very nice kept yelling us to speak up. We waited for another 15 mins finally got our table. We got in barely sat down, the waitress came up told us we have to LEAVE just because there were a group reservation they wanted the table! I AM NEVER GOING BACK THERE EVER AGAIN! That’s not how you should run a restaurant! !!!
