I haven’t visited this bakery in years, long before it came to be the Crown Bakery. However, knowing they had award-winning pies (in particular, the mince and mince & cheese) I had to give them a try. The young woman in the shop was upbeat and friendly. The selection of sweets and sandwiches didn’t do anything to woo me as I walked past; there was nothing about them that stood out from any other bakery. The pies on the other hand – delicious; and most worthy of their awards. Lovely pastry, flavoursome mince filling. Their pie warmer seems to be a little on the hot side though, so make sure you blow on the pie!
