I was one of the proud staff members who used to work here when Delissimos was Kiwi owned and operated. I was in the area last night and decided to have a pizza and see if the quality still was what it used to be. I’m shocked, Pop’s dough recipe wasn’t too hard and somehow the dough has been made super chewy. The tiniest sprinkle of cheese and sprinkle of seafood mix on the pizza didn’t do anything for the taste buds, was not appealing to the eye and definitely not worth $20! Pretty gutted to see this place go so far down hill …
Pretty basic but functional take away with good prices. A few years ago it was better quality but much pricier. It is now much more a fish and chip place rather than having gourmet pizzas. Staff are very pleasant and the fish and chips are fine.
This used to be the greatest place in Devonport until the owner sold it to someone else and it went down the toilet again. It really shows, when its done right that location can be very profitable. I wouldn’t go back there any more, it was my favourite fish and chip shop ever a few years ago.
Hyped up – but didn’t meet my expectations. I enjoyed the pizza and would consider it again but wouldn’t be excited. A few observations:1. I was looking forward to my proscuitto pizza and hoping for a similar pizza to the one you would receive at Scopa in Wellington with delicious thin slices of cured ham alas I received a pizza similar to what one would expect from dominoes made with cheap cubed ham;2. The pizzas were not made with mozzarella, and if they were it was cheap/crap/bulk purchased mozzarella which was very fatty and produced a lot of grease; and 3. On our margarita I was disappointed to find it garnished with dried basil rather than fresh basil… it is not expensive to grow a large bed of basil and the taste is second to none. Ohwell 🙁
I hope the owners respond to me to find out why my I was so disappointed with what I consider to be the best hamburger place in New Zealand serving me up a piece of home delivered grilled fish a little longer than my thumb. It was so small I took a picture look at the gallery or click the link:http://www.menumania.co.nz/mm-data/media/lmjfrgqv1z1350805770.jpg Lance029 466 0011
As a returning expat to Devonport and being bewildered by the vast changes happening to New Zealand (price of milk, how did that happen) one of my first requirements back home was locating a good chippy and I am happy to say I have found it with Delissimo’s in Devonport. Nick and Pop bring back those yester years that I thought had disappeared in Kiwiland and the price is right. Love Nicks humour and Pops pride in his cooking. Please don’t leave ever.
Fantastic food. We preordered our food and arrived to find all the plates set and ready to go. Unfortunately I forgot my wallet but not a worry. Zapped it through that night. The food and service is unbeatable and I can’t speak more highly of your place. And thanks for holding our little holly while we had our tea with Luke & Eva. Thanks again.
