I was exited about tepanyaki lunch offer so decided to have one there! I love Japanese food especially Teppanyaki performance. Japanese places are special as they usually offer you great presentation of food and cozy atmosphere. I should say that appart of teppanyaki grills there is not much of Japanese interior there really.I was the only person in the restaurant. Staff were busy with preps for dinner I guess but polite.From lunch menu I had only two options left for today. It was ether Beef Scotch Fillet Steak or Tofu Steak sets. Both options would come with Miso soup, Steamed rice, Teppan side vegetable and Garden salad. I ordered Scotch Steak option (med.rare) Also I ordered Salmon nigiri sushi (I was supper hungry).Nigiri sushi were presented well but rice wasn’t seasoned enough in my opinion and it was a bit dry.My steak was dry with not much taste in it – good I had a dipping sauce for it.Garden salad was just spinatch with ordinary dressing. Vegetable side dish was pre-made sauted cabbage, which didn’t do a trick for me.My visual teppanyaku experience at Bowz I saw how the chef cut my steak from a cube roll piece in front of me (it was not really appetizing), put my steak on grill, seasoned it generously with salt and pepper, flip it over and diced it.
Convenient location, great showmanship, and tasty menu. I thought the A5 wagyu from here was the best Ive had in Auckland. Even though the pork belly wasnt made on the grill, it was still very delicious when eaten with the mayo. Texture a bit dry though. Would return.
Great food. Bowz is a well established Japanese restaurant in Auckland and I would say one of the best teppanyaki restaurants in Auckland. The dishes are amazing but as usual with Japanese dining, you crave more after you finish.
