Eden Garden was the perfect venue to start my hens do. We had a mid afternoon high tea followed by a tour around the gardens. They served a beautiful assortment of finger foods and included options for vegetarians also. The rose tea was beautiful. Hidden little sweet spot. Cannot wait to go back!
Everything made fresh on site, lovely little charity cafe. The date scones with cream and jam were SO tasty! Really relaxing, nice atmosphere 🙂
It used be my favorite but not any more after they changed ownership. Quality of food down grade so badly. For example some slice of kiwi fruits come as topping but they even didn’t bother the skin off. Terrible customer service by manager. Waitress was friendly. I’ve been their least 5 times before but never again
Caesar Salad a rip off – a few lettuce leaves a sprinkling of ham/bacon shavings (hard to identify), thinner still sprinkling of parmesan-type cheese and 1 quarter of a hard boiled egg, no dressing: for $9.50. Told staff I thought it was poor. They didn’t care. Would never go back.
Came here to have Devonshire tea as it is quite hard to find it in Auckland city. One catch is there is payment entry into the gardens of $8 pp and then you can go to the cafe. The scones were really delicious with good buttery texture. Jam was good too! However the cafe felt slightly run down and service was average. There was a pigeon indoors and was always coming really near to our tables too. Nice place to visit when the flowers are in bloom, good weather and you like gardens etc. definitely interesting how there is a massive garden right in the middle of Epsom because once u enter it feels like you’ve escaped the city for a little bit.
I had only been here once before, and it was wonderful. This time, not so much. We both ordered eggs benedict, and it was actually surprising how bad you can make such a straightforward dish! The supermarket English muffins hadn’t been toasted, the eggs were overcooked, the hollandaise was minimal. The extraordinary setting made it enjoyable still, and I noticed the high tea some ladies had ordered next to us looked very nice, but ours was really disappointing.I would have said something, but the service was actually pretty minimal. The table was dirty when we sat down, even though it didn’t seem like they were that busy, and no one checked on the meal.So sad, this place used to be awesome.
We visited this cafe for breakfast having purchased a grab one, and were disappointed. We stood there for a full minute waiting to be seated while the server at the cash register made no eye contact with us. We had checked the breakfast menu online and had chosen what we wanted, only to get there and discover that it was a set menu (this had not been specified on the grab one), and the gluten free options we wanted weren’t available – we would have to pay extra for potatoes instead of bread. Coffees were good, but not included. The poached eggs were very dry and seemed microwaved. The floor was unswept and the windows were dirty. It seems that the purpose of the grab one voucher is to bring first-time customers in, delight them, and have them wish to return. For instance, 2 long blacks would set a business back about a dollar – why not include them? We were repelled, not delighted, and unfortunately won’t be back.
