I’m writing this review solely in regards to my experience at the Country Inn tonight (18/11/2017). We booked a table at the Country Inn several weeks in advance for my grandfather’s seventieth birthday, as we had family coming up from Rotorua. My grandparents had been here before and received good service, so it seemed like a great place to go.They had not been made aware that renovations had merged the bar and the dining room. When we arrived it was lively, and not an issue. However it became very loud as the night wore on, so much so that we had to repeat things to one another. The food took an hour to come out, and by the time everyone had received their meal, it was lukewarm. I enjoyed my chicken (as it was smothered in cheese) but I thought everything was overpriced for the quality and the service we received. Both the fish and the pork were very overcooked.When voicing my concerns to the duty manager, he made the excuse that it was busy. However, we had been booked in for weeks, and when you’re spending several hundred dollars, you expect a certain calibre for the experience. He was very defensive and a little rude, but I can imagine it’s very stressful to manage a bar that was so busy, despite the fact that we were the only ones in dining.Thinking of the positives, the place was clean and tidy. 2/3 of the meals were pleasant, if overpriced. And the people at the bar seemed to be having a great time. In summary, bear in mind that the dining is merged with the bar and avoid busy nights due to the noise and lack of staffing. It looked like like a nice place to go for a drink, but perhaps not a meal.

All three meals were cooked to perfection. Nice little private restaurant if you’re looking for a place to eat in peace.
Went in December 2014 and stayed for a night. Loved the food . Generous servings and was well worth the money we spent there . Staff that served us were welcoming and very friendly . Definitely recommend . May be a bit of drive but we’ll worth it
We went in Summer 2015 February and it was beautiful! def some of the best European food we have tasted. Its a shame it is so far out from my house as I live out in Waitakere otherwise would be regulars. My partner and daughter were impressed as well. If you happen to be in the area you must go, we also stayed a night and enjoyed the pool 🙂
