Standard bar food. Good place for a yarn on the weekends. We had the shared platter which was good, nothing exceptional.Service was a on a request basis, prices are lower than Auckland CBD bars.Very relaxed bar in tranquil Waiuku.
We turned up to the restaurant and actually had to search for the staff, there was no one to be seen.Once we found the waitress, we were seated and our orders were taken. I ordered to share, the garlic bread which was nice, but very small. Then I had the steak for my main, with vegetables and fries. I ordered the steak to be medium rare, but it came out well done. So I sent it back, they were very good about cooking a new one and then the chef even brought the meal out and apologised, this is why I am giving two stars and not one. The vegetables that came with the meal were a mush of over cooked and over buttered carrots and celery that were cut extremely small. My friend ordered the pasta, which was average. Probably wouldn’t go back
Service is fine. The waitress looks very tired. We ordered a kids platter , steak and entree size pasta, five spiced pork belly. I have to say, except the kids platter is plateful.children liked them. All other food are not quite pleasant. Especially the pasta. It’s the worst i have never had. Steak was not good selected.pork belly a little bit hard.not worth it.I don’t think I will come back.
Lovely friendly welcome but took 20 minutes before our order was taken, 10 after that before drinks came out and then food finally arrived 28 minutes after we ordered. The place was pretty quiet but had just farewelled a large tour group. Food decidedly underwhelming, not bad just… very average. Whitebait fritter was more of an omelette and the calamari and chips were from the freezer. Then the duty manager taking our payment didn’t know what our food cost. Lovely decor but not a place we would return to.
Went in for lunch at 3pm new years eve. Few people there, took half an hour for order to arrive. Calamari was undercooked, and there were only 4 pieces, so it got sent back. Portion of fish was tiny and greasy, chips were soggy. Didn’t even have tap beer as system was playing up. Won’t be back.
Great service, the set up reminds me of an English pub, beautiful old building, nice tea area too. I sat on the pub side and ordered food from the bar snacks menu which were all under $20. Tried the wedges, Nacho’s and steak Sammy, would recommended the steak Sammy or wedges. Worth a try if your in the area.
