Came here after reading all the good reviews but I found the foods to be quite salty. Lighting is dimm. Service was alright. Overall experience isn’t too bad but the food was just too salty for my taste.
Food: I love the unique menu style here. Its a giant laminated menu, where you essentially build your own meal by using markers to pick out the essentials. From the flavour Balls you want as the star of the dish (beef, chicken pork, lamb, vego or the chefs special), to choosing the base (such as mash or risotto) and the sauce you want to cover it all in (think spicy tomato or classic roast chicken gravy). This means there is always something to please everyone, even the fussiest of eaters (which is granted, is usually me). I’ve been here so many times, and no matter the combination – it’s always amazing! The cocktails are also pretty damn good here too.Service: I can’t fault the service at all! Super friendly, attentive without being annoying and you can ask for recommendations on menu combinations and they always have a great answer. I even asked them about the cocktails/what to order (because im super awkward) and they were incredibly helpful.Ambiance: Exposed brick work, industrial style lighting, long sharing tables outside and cosy corner tables inside, the attention to detail and finishing touches all support the theme of a New York style neighborhood bar. The whole place just feels effortlessly cool, making it so easy to relax into the surroundings and soak up that Bedford energy. wheretonextnz.com
We ordered the chefs special chicken, corn, cheese meatballs w/ parmesan cheese and roast chicken gravy on top of spaghetti for one dish, and the standard chicken meatballs w/ roast chicken gravy and special japanese mayo sauce on mash for the second dish. For sides we opted for tater tots and mac and cheese w/ bacon.Everything was just so so so good. The meatballs had plenty of flavour and was not dry at all. Every element of the two meatball dishes were perfect and hearty. The mac and cheese was also delicious and extremely cheesy. Tater tots are my favourite sides so definitely no negatives there. The only downside to the meal was that because everything was so rich and cheesy it became harder to enjoyably eat everything towards the end. But overall a perfect meal and would love to come back again (although would order significantly less).
Their fried chicken is soooooooo goooood we dont even share haha All the cocktails are always tasty as! Food could come out a bit faster but worth the wait.
Great food but slightly over priced with the drinks and the size of drinks – look great in pics and so beautifully presented but definitely not worth the price!! The lamb meatballs are sooo great and the sliders are a great option if you want to try a few options but still have a filling meal
Friendly staff and good atmosphere. It’s more bar place then eatery. They do have good choice sharing plates and good drinking list. I liked their chicken with smokey sauce. Parking is at the back making it hassle free.
Came here for leaving drinks but had previously dined at their Takapuna branch. I prefer the Takapuna branch more as it feels more family friendly/ restaurant-feel as the Ponsonby one is more bar/ clubby.A big fan of their meatballs and pasta but their cocktails are my favourite especially the ‘steaming copper kettle’ where they put dry ice in it to give the effect of steam.
