A nice new delight for ponsonby which lacks in the cake/dessert department. Ordered two cakes, both were really rich, well balanced flavours and very generous portion size comparable to the cost. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Definitely will be back for another cake or two. Hopefully there will be more variety and different selections every time we go back for more.
An aesthetically pleasing new addition to the line of Ponsonby Road, Dahlia will soon become your new late night/date night dessert spot.Upon entry you will immediately see a cabinent full of beautifully crafted sweets from shiny glazed gateuxs to decadent chocolate tarts, and gluten free options of cakes. These pair very well with a range of beverage options of coffee or tea.The Mango and Salted Caramel Gateux had fluffy layers of salted caramel flavoured cream and sponge cake and a tropical hit of mango puree centre. It was not overbearingly sweet nor heavy and paired well with the smooth hot black coffee.Customer service was great and the overall cafe was tidy, clean, and spacious. Operating till late on most days of the week, it’s a perfect new spot to try for any occassion, day or night.
