Tucked away on an already tucked away street in Ponzo/ Freeman’s Bay, this little breakfast nook of a Cafe is easy to miss if you’re not looking sharp. The name was interesting and a friend suggested it so we met up there this arvo for lunch. The food portions were decent and prices reasonable but to be quite frank the food is not extraordinary. In fact it’s pretty average I would say. The chilli jam was bitter and the egg was very rubbery. The chairs latte was atrocious. Basically boiled milk with a but if cinnamon… Eugh. Need to learn how to do those right guys. Made the drive from Mt Eden almost not worth it since it has some of the best (not to mention award winning) cafes in the city. The service at Queenies, on the other hand was very good. Polite, attentive and efficient staff grace the place and made dining there quite pleasant despite the sulky weather.Street Parking is easy to find but then again it was a Sunday afternoon.May go back, but highly unlikely and if I do it won’t be for the food.
Great coffee, friendly service, great ambience with all the leafly, green ivy. Love that you can also buy a Keep Cup from here which includes the first coffee
Such a cute little cafe hidden in the CBD!Ordered the Sambal Omelette which i wasn’t expecting to be tasty but ended up being super good. The omelette had a very generous serving on prawns inside and the masala was also very authentic tasting. We also ordered, the smoked tea salmon with a poached egg on top of a rosti. The rosti was a bit sweet but still tasty. Very generous fillet of smoked salmon on top which was good and the egg was cooked to perfection.Loved the grape vines growing all over the outside, once they’ve grown i’m sure you could pick them while you wait. Will definitely be back.
