This place is my fav! I regularly go to the one in Sandringham and heard about this pop up and had to try it. They had a different menu to the Sandringham menu and this one is perfect for just a little snack, cup of chai and to chill. They have a Indian styled toastie and it was to die for!
Loved the outdoor hipster vibes! Fairy lights, eating off old washing machines and wooden carton seats. Had the Kheema Chicken, Cardamon ice tea and masala tea. Food was exquisite, the Kheema has depth, flavour and texture. Not like your food court curries that are usually full of sugar and dairy, Satya Chai curries were full of actual sauce and spices. Would have given this place a perfect 5 if it werent for the disappointing portion sizes. The service could improved, as I found the servers impatient and werent happy to explain there menu to non-indian folk.Showstopper: Kheema Curry and any of the drinks except for the mango blossom which is just mango juice.Overall Grade: A-
This place is like a hidden gem in grey Lynn.. Theyve used doors and washing machines as tables which I thought was a nice touch. Its an open space and not congested at all and the interior is very nice! For food we tried the Bombay chicken toasties and for the drinks we tried the cardamom iced tea, both of which were nice although I expected the tea to be milk based but the staff was understanding and bought us some milk on the side when asked. The prices for food and drinks are not bad but Shisha I thought was a bit over priced as they charge per flavour than per Shisha pipe/head. One flavour was 30$ and a mix was $45 which was a bit of a hit on the face as Ive never been to a place in Auckland that charges like that. In saying that, the Shisha was good and it did not die out even when we were about to leave it still had its flavours, so hats off to that!
