More of a traditional Fishery store than a pure Fish and Chip shop, Regent Fisheries is one of many Fish and Chip stores in the competitive area of Glen Innes. Located directly opposite the famed Marsic Bro’s I’ll admit I wasn’t thrilled to try Regent when I knew I could go to Marsic Bros. However I’m glad I did because Regent is a worthy adversary to Marsic Bros. The owner is an older Polynesian gentleman and although his English wasn’t very good we managed to have some decent banter. I ordered a Fish, mussels and potato fritters.I loved how the fry of the foods was a light golden yellow, this indicates to me that fresh oil was used and that the batter was also made fresh. My favorite was the Fritter, the batter to potatoes ratio was perfect and the crunch was fantastic. In my opinion the Fritters at Regent is better than the ones over at Marsic Bros. The mussels also had a great batter layer and is in my opinion same to the mussels at Marsic Bros. What was a little bit of the let down was the fish. The fish did not have the same firmness and soft texture as the ones at Marsic Bros. Overall though, I enjoyed my meal from Regent. This place is defintiyl not far behind to Marsic bros but I understand why patrons may prefer Marsic’s cleaner appearance than Regent.Showstopper: Battertechnique here isclose to perfection.OverallGrade: B+
