Came here today w/ my parents and would definitely come back this container was only $8 and he packed it right to the brim so was really good value for money. The food was nice , but the only thing I didnt really like was the chicken nibbles ; only bc I prefer battered over crumbed but apart from that , a hidden gem in the hood Edit: just came here tonight as well to get a $29 tray and wow we got 5 different choices and she packed on quite a lot of each if only there was one closer to grey lynn their customer service isnt amazing like they can come off a bit grumpy but a small price to pay for great portions and awesome prices
Menu here is out of date, prices are increased by $2. Otherwise would recommend for a quick and easy meal. Veges are very good. Meat not so much.
The Great Tong has been a place to go whenever I feel like having fried rice and some fried chicken nibbles. My favourite is barbecue pork fried rice and I never get tired of eating this. I like how they consistently serve this tasty dish, which can be eaten by itself or paired with some egg foo yong or sweet and sour pork. The fried chicken nibbles are good but the meat is slightly dry and does not have crispy skin. The chips that come with the nibbles tend to dry out quickly and gets hard after a few hours.
Sometimes craving for junk foods and this is the place. They are always busy, especially on the weekend night. Ordered $16 dish with $10 lemon chicken. Look what I got with just $16! It is enough for 3 to 4 ppl and honestly their sweet n sour pork can’t complain. Also lemon chicken was good enough. It could be too batter for someone but um… their price. Do not go there too late because you will miss some of dishes as I missed bbq pork tonight! This is the reason they get 4 rating from me. I am not sure the Takanini one but will try later too.
Cheap takeaways, delicious fried chicken nibbles. Great value for portions given. Definitely one of the better takeaway places on the East Auckland region.
I was out at the Mad Butcher and wanting to cook up a storm. However, I was intrigued by the neighbouring takeaway store. Well lit and with a shockingly well stocked, delicious-smelling smorgasbord, it immediately had me wandering into the establishment. A range of your typical smorgasbord board presented itself as you enter and oh my, did the food look ravishing.I had the 4 choice takeaway container which was $7.50, yes $7.50. An absolute bargain for the taste and amount of food you get.Although I found that the egg fu yong was a little salty for my liking, I loved the stir fry beef. The sweet and sour pork had a little too much batter for my liking but overall it wasn’t too bad.Showstopper: Portions and PriceOverall Grade: B+
