Service is bad, or to be more precise, there is no service – we were glared at from the instant we walked in by four staff members with no smiles or greeting who were all sitting down behind the bar looking very bored. Was quiet for a Saturday night.Ordered a beer, sat down, looked at the menu, came back to the bar to order with the same 4 staff members staring at us. Felt pretty weird!Ordered 2 x pork ribs, the ribs that came out were beef ribs haha.Ate them anyway, they were pretty good, some were quite dry though.Salad was small, chips were frozen McCain-style or something, tasted average.Wouldn’t come back and try anything else, mostly due to the staff behaving strangely and making it feel awkward, as if you are annoying them by imposing on their time.

Thanks for the empty container of pasta, considering I got one on Sunday and it was full. Consistency is key, I’ve eaten in the restaurant and take away, every time has been a different experience. Also 95% of the times I’ve dealt with you, your staff have been disgustingly rude. Food is alright, depends on the day , pricing is good.
You may see below that I wrote a bad review on this place. Since then I have been back and couldn’t be more delighted! The food is fabulous and the price great. The owners and staff have been wonderful to deal with. I think the chef that day may have been the problem, however I couldn’t be happier now, and this is my favourite place to eat…real tasty food, good size and good price. My son says they have the best steaks he’s had anywhere. Lots of parking, beautifully clean restaurant and cool music!
Ate here about 4 months ago and loved it, however last night I stopped by before going home and noticed a sign outside saying free dessert with every meal. I ordered meatballs in gravy with mashed potatoes and for dessert waffles and ice cream…sounds nice doesn’t it? It was the worst meal I have EVER had. The meatballs were tiny and more grey than brown; hard little balls in the middle of a ring of fork-flattened instant mashed mashed potato which in turn was surrounded in a ring of frozen veges (carrots & peas) which were not cooked – still hard and somewhat cold. VERY disappointing. The ice cream looked frothy and was soft and it was as if it had been scraped out of an old container – it had pieces of actual ice through it. This was drizzled with a thin chocolate sauce and sprinkled with 100’s and 1000’s that were rock hard. The waffles were dry and hard from a packet or from the freezer …old looking and old tasting. This is no exaggeration – this was not worth $1 let alone the $17 paid. The only reason I didn’t complain on the spot was so as not to embarrass the staff and cause a scene in front of people drinking there. I was the only dining patron there in a huge room of tables, so maybe I should have guessed. Unfriendly atmosphere also…will never go back.
Don’t go here! Worst service ever. It was going to be my new local but not anymore. No eye contact or even a smile when ordering a beer. I was looked at as if I was dirt on the bottom of their shoe. Awesome because I love that feeling…. I have been in hospo for TEN years, so know what it’s like so I am as polite as possible. Obviously did me no good. Will never return. Thank you for the terrible experience.
Had a delicious lunch here at the Westside grille which was once known as the thirsty rooster. The waitakere trust has surely done a great job in revamping this place. We ordered the kiwi roast flatbread which was amazing and the scotch steak was to die for – best steak I’ve had in years!! My partner had the Caesar salad which was a bit bland. The only thing that bugged us was the constant flow of pokie players walking through the restaurant whilst we ate. This made our dining experience uncomfortable. Not your typical family friendly eatery but more of a place to take the boys/girls out for a feed somewhere different to your usual.
