This has been our local for 15 years. When I first saw the shop I wasn’t sure about it as it looked a bit grungy – still does! – but we’ve only ever had really good meals from there. I agree with the reviewers who describe the fish as fresh and the batter as light. The chips are always perfectly cooked. When we’re out with others and they order from their ‘good’ chippy, I almost always think ours are better. 🙂
I remember as a kid coming here to buy fish, whenever we stopped in this area. You can easily smell fish from metres away, which can be a bit off putting. But buying their fish, it’s always fresh. To this day I still walk past this fish n chips shop each time I finish work to go home.
Among friends/family this place is nicknamed Fat Freddy’s Drop. What I appreciate the most about this takeaway, and Im sure everyone else would agree too, is that their Fish batter is very light and thin, it doesnt hold a lot of oil in it like the other takeaways on Surrey Cres. The fish is the main reason I visit this spot, very clean and refreshing. to the friendly family who run this takeaway.
Last week I spent $48 dollers and got supermarket chips they tasted rubbish I tossed it out I’m not too sure why there standard are not on point but I probably wouldn’t buy from them again…Supermarket chips? What a Joke
Food tastes as good as fish n chips is ever gonna taste, however for our order they put onion in the fish burgers when we specifically requested them not to, and they forgot to put one food item that was ordered and paid for, so have given an average score to reflect the oversights in the service. Make sure that you check your order once you’ve made it and then when you walk away with it. Tho’ that’s no guarantee because I asked if everything I’d ordered was in the box they had given me and the girl at the counter said yes!?
